The weird thing is Dev isn't the only one to be promoting downloading and sharing music right now. Trivium and Protest the Hero have been promoting downloading too. Although with these two they get dosh from the gigs and merch and right now Dev isn't gigging.

It's not like artists havent had that problem before though, when people had the old A-B tape decks they just needed a blank cassette and could make a straight out copy. And hand it to one of their chums.

Whether it's a good thing or a bad thing it gets people interested in the music. And I think now people will like a bands music so much they will buy it (and possibly more than once). Some people download as a try before you buy and then others don't seem to be bothered about buying. But I think nowadays more people want to try and buy cd's and merch to help bands in the time of financial needs to keep them making music.

WHats funny is that the second I heard Christeen, (after hearing so much SYL) I immediately searched for everything you've ever released. I downloaded it all. I was as happy as can be. Then, I proceeded to purchase the SYL and DTB catalogs, and finally started buying the limited editions you've put out (Terria, Accelerated actually). I just recieved Ocean Machine in the mail yesterday, and I'm buying Infinity next monday. I will officially own every major Dev release (sans Punky Brewster) and I feel great doing so.

I support the artists I enjoy as much as I can, but it takes time to support as much as I'd like to.

BTW, I preordered Ki, (#429!) and I am yet to listen to it. I'm holding out. I know it's going to be exactly what I want and expect.

Dev, you should continue posting all in caps, be nice to see what someone who's not an Autotune obsessed twit sounds like with their posts all in caps...

Downloaded Ki when it leaked...preordered two copies soon after. My little cuz is going to love that birthday gift in June.

Hopefully not a stupid question, but are the downloads in question mp3, AAC, FLAC... etc? Or does it just depend on where you download them from? I feel like a noob right now - or perhaps bit torrent style?


I can't see myself downloading it anyways, (not to be contrary or unhelpful) it's just.... well I've waited this long to hear it, I can wait a little longer for the CD. I'm still a Ki virgin. It's ok. I could download for the sake of helping, but I'm still not listening til I get that MF'ing CD.
