Another good one:

If you're talking about Coil, you've got to mention Love's Secret Domain.

That's a classic. Unfortunately it's very hard to get for any reasonable price.

I also whole-heartedly second the Fantomas and Lustmord recommendations.

I love Ambient music, so I am glad, that Devin has shown, that he can fit into so many styles. GREAT!

I would recommned Sigur Rós

and also what I discovered lately MONO a Japanese band, that combines ambient with SUN O))), or Cult of Luna..without singing and more melancholy or sometimes fear 8)

This amazing CD is sort of neo-classical with ambient leanings:

Aye.

BC:GOMT in particular I find quite eerie.
Mr. Wilson from Porcupine Tree.

That is actually a very good recommendation, brimir. 8)

If you want to listen to some release interesting ambient stuff I have been really getting int o Tribes of Neurot, they have some awesome experimental stuff.

I just got their album 'A Resonant Sun'. The idea behind it was to play the Neurosis album 'A Sun That Never Sets' being played on a stereo in a room, then re-played and re-recorded each subsequent repetition. As the album progresses you get to here songs recycled 2 times, then 4, all the way to 30. The idea is that you eventually distill the sound to its finest harmonic resonance

Also good is 'Grace', which is designed to be synched up to 'Times of Grace' by Neurosis to very weird results.

On 'Adapation and Survival: The Insect experiment' they compiled insect noises, then distorting, synthesizing, and manipulating the recordings into freakish, buzzing noisescapes devoid of humans-playing-instruments
