We could love DTB I'm sure, there's just no marketing for it down here. Everyone who hears about it gets into it, but the only way anyone hears about it is word of mouth.... ah forget it, I'll just move to France :)

We should petition Inside Out or something I guess if we want to see The DTB, would that work?

Inside Out isn't the label for Aus. It's Roadrunner and likely all the petiitioning in the world won't get them to do it. Aus is not a great market for DTB. You love SYL but DTB is underappreciated. Now France, they love the DTB.

Yeah, we have some damn good tastes!

That's because they won't put DTB on the shelves in record stores. If RR got their act together and had better distribution for DTB, then it would sell. Like you said, SYL is popular here and most of, if not all SYL fans will also buy DTB stuff. It's just that we can't find it anywhere and have to import stuff, which is why RR thinks it's not selling.

Take Synchestra, for example, I got mine from HDR purely because that was the only way to get it. There's still no local release for it here yet and the only copies in stores are the import ones where you're paying $45 for a CD. It's very frustrating, especially when all the US and European people have these things readily available.

I'm sure that if DTB toured AUS, they would get crowds, especially if they toured with SYL, like they did in 1999 (with the SYL band, though).

Its changing, there are a lot of kids getting into Dev's solo stuff. Still going to take time but I'm working on it.

'Infinity' seems to be quite popular so far.

Roadrunner?
Really?
My Synchestra has an inside out label on it. We got parallel imports here though, might have something to do with it.

As for DTB's popularity here, I meet Dev fans all around, mostly fans of Terria and Ocean Machine, I thought those albums were quite widely known.

Hye Tracy I've got an idea (possibly practical, probably not). There's this band down here in Australia called Karnivool starting to blow up really big, playing sold out club shows across Australia, headlining to sometimes 1000+ people and about to get a record deal in US and Canada and Japan. And I also know for a fact that Devin is a huge influence on them having read interviews with them and chatted with them and what not. They supported SYL for one show in Perth back in 2002 I think it was. How about you get a band like them to do national support for DTB? They'd help drag in the crowds and help people get converted to the DTB cause. And I'm sure they would be honoured as all buggery to be opening for Devin, even though down here I guess they're the more popular band. Plus they'd be making contacts with you guys who are bigger overseas blah blah...

I guess that was more a of a hypothetical than an actual idea. Would that sort of thing happen often but? Sounds cool in theory...

it does cost a lot of cash to bring them down

Just need to get the word out more and to be honest, while I don't hate karnivool I don't think it would really suit.

You'd definitely need a band like those dudes Way of the Extreme. HINT HINT

Actually that would probably suit even less.

Possibly, but who is going to front the approximately $40,000 it would take to do that and risk not being repaid for their efforts? Find such a promoter and the tour would likely happen, given the right timing.

You guys also complain constantly about the lack of touring here, there and everywhere. From my perspective, Devin is home only a few months a year. Touring is part of the job but the operative word is "part", not all.

Frankly, all I see on this forum lately is negativity and it is getting quite tedious. Between people bitching about Ozzfest (likely the biggest opportunity Devin has had since Vai, regardless of your opinion of the Osbournes), speculating stupidly about how much the new SYL will suck when no one has a clue what it will sound like, and how you want constant touring and if he's not touring, to be recording but not recording the wrong thing - what you all decide is right. Seriously people...

I dont know... there seems to be a lot of fan boydom on here too. You take the good with the bad I suppose.

But seriously, Tracy, you can't really be thinking that everyone is totally upset about SYL getting the ozzfest gig, and you cant seriously think that We think that the new SYL is going to sound like shit. can you? all of us. theres always going to be a few fucking douchebags who dont know there own asshole from a hole in the ground that are gonna come up with stupid bullshit speculation, its gonna happen, and theres nothing you can do aboot it... dont let it upset you, just let Devin prove them elitest douchebag sonsabitches WRONG.

now to you elitst douchebag assholes who dont know your own asshoel from a hole in the ground, and you know who are. stop whining.

Bring on the new SYL. Dev & crew, good luck, tear em a new one, and god dammit, make time to go home and MAKE BABIES WITH YOUR WIVES.

Yes, you are right, I know not everyone. I was venting. I stand corrected. :D

Fucking Amen to you Tracy. On so many levels. This is a great place to get information being a somewhat fanatic type of person (maybe that's an understatement), but I am reserved enough to be very disappointed in the shit attitudes of some of the others here. I am not ashamed to say that this is why I hardly ever post on the boards. It has to be hard being the wife of the man who is being ridiculed by some of his supposedly biggest fans!@#$? Screw that. Stab a friend in the front if you're going to do it at all, you know? I am glad to hear you say something this realistic to these people. But I also very much agree with Tony P. I've been in contact with some truly awesome people from this one and the SYL board, and have even made friends (and great contacts) with a few of them. There is great support here for Dev and all of the guys too, and even for each other. That is what I do like about this community. I just hope that the true ones remain visible to all of us who really do give a shit about the music and the people unconditionally. Again, thank you for your words. I know now that I'm not the only one noticing these things...

I appreciate everything Devin does inside and outside the studio. No complaints here, no silly speculation and no whinging. It would disappoint me if most fans are as selfish as you describe. :(

I appreciate not only the wonderful music he shares with us but also the times it takes to do so. I also understand as a result of the above it means he spends less time with the ones he loves. Hell, if people were demanding my girlfriend to do 'this or that' and be someplace all the time I wasn't, I'd be venting to!

I have had the pleasure of seeing Deving/SYL 4 times in Melbourne and loved them all. I can wait for the next one, after all I'm not going anywhere.
