The place to speak about Dev's current projects, and everything yet to come

I haven't never really gained anything mixing - the two tend to cancel each other's desirable effects. Alcohol blurs the clarity of a good high, and the smoke dulls the rush of the drink. Works probably if one likes to get well wasted, which is something I rarely do nowadays. Prefer a little bit of green and just chilling out, doing almost anything I normally do. Listening and making music has always worked for me while on high. Devin's aural universes are especially fascinating to explore this way... I remember some moments of true awe. Though I now and then drink some wine or a beer, alcohol doesn't really have much to offer to me, and it's got some potentially harmful effects to the body and the mind. Seen plenty of them because of the primitive drinking culture in Finland. But, as with all substances, know yourself, and know your limits. It's what you make of it.

I only recently started smoking pot. I used to think it was stupid, but now I realize that there's nothing wrong with getting high from time to time with some friends. I prefer it to drinking alcohol. I have yet to mix the two though, should be quite the experience.

lol you have a good point.

I guess writing music is different for everyone! For people who live around me thier musical taste changes dramaticaly to Bob Marley when they stone....Problem is i think they do that because they don't have much taste at all and they listen to the closest thing related to "Marriage you wanna" I find myself actually not enjoying "chill music" when im blazed but i tend to want to hear either my own music or Devys. Not that Dev's music is not chill but when i say chill i mean music that the artist kinda...pulled out of thier ass to sound relaxed.

even though most of us are adults and are able to talk about this in a forum for some reason it doesn't feel natural. maybe its just me

In my own experiences, listening to music high has just sort of "freshend" the music. It sounds like the moment when it first really clicked, and thats always enjoyable.

you pretty much summed up what i was thinking lol

you enjoy it more for sure! i can't say i have had a psychedelic experience when high and listening to music but for sure it does make you feel like a virgin of the ears. (metaphorically speaking).

maybe this is just my experience?

Im my opinion the only interesting thing about drugs (well i can only say ganja, never tried anything else) is the spiritual realisation that comes with it's first use.

I think using drugs casually just sitting around is so stupid.

Bob Marley's music is beautiful and i have never listened to it stoned nor do i feel the need to.
I have no idea what you are saying about "marriage you wanna"?

Doesn't necessarily come with the first use. For me and many people I know, it took many experiments before any realisation hit. On the other hand, new and different realisations still seem to keep coming, as long as one tries to stay open to them. I agree with the interest of the spiritual dimension, though. Haven't had the need to try stronger psychedelics yet.

Nothing compares to experiencing good music on a strong psychedelic (acid, mushrooms, etc.). It really lets you hear things from a whole new perspective...

Say it outloud and then think of a person who can't pronounce the J properly in Marijuana. Its just a simple joke nothing to get offended over.

Well I wasn't saying Bob Marley didn't have a huge fan base ;) I don't like it because i don't see it as inspirational in anyway and i don't think i will ever enjoy it because the style is not really my cup of tea. plus i feel as if Bob Marley is WAY overplayed for what it is worth. Im sure he was talented in music and he was good at song writing but i don't feel that i should think it beautiful because EVERY other person is in love with it.

btw i don't think we have met and even though you don't agree with what i say i feel as if you kinda came at me in a slightly tempered way? maybe il start by saying sorry for making you upset.

cheers

Sir Wankus Magpie wrote:I believe writing music on drugs makes little difference from when you ARE on drugs

reason i say this is because peoples taste in music doesn't change when they use drugs all of a sudden

so why would the sound in thier mind change. All that should happen is that sound become louder lol

Of course it can change the way you write and/or perceive music. it alters your thought process, so why wouldn't music sound/feel different?

Absolutely. Pot can be used as a performance-enhancer in many different situations...although by the same token, it can be a performance-inhibitor. Some of my best performances have happened after smoking a joint, but at times it can also make me more self-conscious...

going on stage after smoking pot is certainly not for everybody. i'd never do it, although i like a little smoke while jamming around in the rehearsing room. a few beers before the show seem to work for most people, though.

Getting green is like putting a different set of ears on. Depends on the mood and all sorts of weird variables you can never predict of course.... but at the end of the day, it's ocassionally nice for me to say "I'm going to put my other ears on for a while" and then go listen to something interesting. Its fun to notice just how many things you notice that you never noticed before.

Then next time you;re listening to it straight, you'll hear those parts and think 'oh yeah....how didi I never hear that before???'. ....lol

I love smokin' my BC Green and getting together with Dave Young and Brian Waddell and ripping up some X-Box 360 NHL 2K7 or watchin' movies !!!! Good fuckin' times.....

As far as smokin' and playing drums, I don't do that, I'm a friggin' nightmare on the drums if I do. I don't know how Dev did it for so many years !!!! Now he's clean and doesn't smoke.... good for him, I'm proud of the guy. I think Dave, Brian and I have picked up his slack though

My 2 cents !!!!
