The place to speak about Dev's current projects, and everything yet to come

my first post, so excuse me if i sound retarded or out of the loop

i've been lurking these forums, mostly to read dev's posts about his upcoming album, and i've kind of realised that the album, whatever shape or form it takes is only going to be devs truly awesome work when he feels happy with it - if it's rushed, or not on par with his feelings about music..;

like no matter what the music is, as long as it has dev's feelings behind it like his other works then it'll all come together as we all hope it will, which is why it makes me feel better rather that worse to know that devin is taking his time with it, reworking it, and getting it to what he feels is exactly right

we'll wait as long as we need to man :D you've at least earned that

oh yeah and dev behind the producers chair of mastodon instead of o'brian would be awesome :D
the album will be good anyway, but it'll be interesting to see how Mastodon's music will mix with his production, especially since it's about Rasputin and Tzarist Russia and whatnot

Thanks for the post(s) Dev, sounds like you're on the right path in life. Oh, and I second the Dog fence thing. 8)

I'm absolutely ecstatic at all of the news since the last time I logged on. Sounds like some major creative juices are flowing for the Dev! The whole dark, sinister thing sounds absolutely incredible, perhaps it's also the heavy/sober idea. If I'm not mistaken, he's a pretty big fan of Ulver, right? All of those words could describe recent Ulver very well, and if the Dev has it in him to release something like Blood Inside, I imagine it'll rock all of our musical foundations.

Too echo the words of several of the forum peers, thank you Devin, for the music, the updates, the gratitude, and a plethora of other things. I couldn't ask for a better favorite musician! Hope all is as well as it can be! Take as long as you need!

Never really thought about Ziltoid being metaphorical for drugs. I guess the Greys can flood the memories...

I don't want to sound like a douche....

But i really hope this album is pretty deep.

Devs music always touches me in the right places....always hits home! hard to explain but i'm sure you guys and gals feel it too!

It certainly does just that, and Devs music always sounds fresh no matter how many times you played those songs already. That is a rare quality these days...

hehe, i tried to shorten the waiting time for he new record by not reading here for a while and now there's such a bunch of new stuff from the dev himself. nice :) also cool to see how the forums population is carrying on as always. good to be back!

it's really cool to hear how things seem to be going for you, dev, cause if i've been "reading" your music correctly over the last ten years, you've been pretty close to madness or even worse things quite a few times. but instead of loosing it, you took a break at the right time, moved to the country and sorted shit out. mad props for that! many musicians don't know where to draw the lines between authenticity/truth, family life, career, their stage persona and their real inner self and all those conflicting aspects. metallica are a horrible example. it gives me and many other fans (especially artists, i guess) a lot of courage that you of all people found your way in life and made the right decisions :)

even though you've practically vanished, people are still discovering your music right now. i showed infinity to a friend this winter, he was instantly hooked and demanded more. he had a pretty bad time lately, considering his health, but he said listening to ocean machine for the first time while being on morphium in the hospital was the best thing he's witnessed this year. he's been doing better since then ;)

oh, and since people were recommending bands for you to produce, my friend says you should work with muse from england. i agree. you might wanna check them out if you don't know them. they've got +10 on epic.

well then, keep doing your thing, and if you want to write about other stuff than work/music here on the boards, do so! like i said, you give people power :D

If you forget that last album, yes they are. Live even moreso than on record.

Yeah, they peaked with Origin of Symmetry. But live, they're a spectacle. I was lucky enough to see them at Wembley, and you can just see me on the HAARP DVD.
