I don't know what I'm more excited about - the new album or the new amp you're designing!
Both sound immensely intriguing. And a movie to boot as well?!
Dev, you're spoiling the fuck out of us :)
But I ain't complaining, hehe.
I recommend the new Sepultura album to those who haven't heard it yet. 'A-Lex'. This is one fucking listenable metal record! It's a work of art no doubt, and I'm in love with Andreas' guitar tone. Jean's snare too.
But I digress - back to Dev. Sounds like you're on one hell of a journey towards the completion of this album some day. So many things to bring to it since the Ziltoid days. I really like the photos that were leaked from the performance because they remind me of the Infinity days - a time when I was more excited about Dev music than anyone or anything else. And that shaved-head was the image of those times.
Again, Wow!

You sound so nostalgic :) No worries though, there's a whole new era of Devin Townsend to look forward too! Cool stuff to come, very cool stuff to come, methinks.

 Maybe a little bit; Joe's arms are hairier than Devin's by leaps and bounds though haha

Hehe, yeah I do get a bit nostalgic sometimes about those days. I guess we've all come a long way since then with the Dev, but back in '99, he was still relatively new on the scene and it seemed like anything was possible with him and his music. It was so fucking exciting. And the best part was, we were right - he has proven that anything IS possible with his music, as the last decade since Infinity has shown :)

This might be a late post, but NAMM was awesome. I had no clue you were there! I felt like the youngest person there. haha. Being 15 people were confused by my tag listed as "artist". Akerfeldt is a pretty cool guy. Just putting that out there.
