There are plenty of solos! And if there are no Devin solos then someone sure as hell studied his style of playing and has done it the greatest justice!

Aside from Steve Vai's solo in Triumph could you point out any other tracks with solos? I'm not being condescending, I just really want to hear shit in case I missed it, because I don't remember any solos.

"Babysong" features what could be classified as a solo through almost the whole song. "Gaia" has a solo with some excellent double-kick work! "Judgement" has a solo. "Sunset" has solo work. "Sunshine And Happiness" has a solo. Any more?

Lassie is also an Irish synonym for 'girl'. I think.

Still a great mellow way to start off a record. rrrooff.

[OBI-WAN KENOBI] That is... good news. [/OBI-WAN KENOBI]

And as for Mr. Bungle: I've just listened to Infinity's Wild Colonial Boy...
Not that Mr. Townsend copies anything Mr. Patton related, but obviously these two gentlemen occasionally draw from the same sources of circus freakshow-ism...

Calling, it's calling, I can't stay here
Knowing there's no higher
Going, I've gone for so many years
Going makes me tire

And they said it was this
And they said it was that
And they said it was this
And they said...but it is

Call for me Jesus, I'm waiting here
Knowing I'm a liar
Knowing I've known more than have my share
knowing they did this Triumph?(cant quite get this line)

And they said it was this
And they said it was that
And they said it was this
And they said...but it is

Horray Doctor young
Horray For lifes boredom... son
Horray my time has come
vanish once again

One more... Collecters
Mankind Collecters

Never gonna die we're always gonna live forever ever..
everyday with my skys of grey
in my freedom... freedom.. that all i can work out after that. i know i few more before solo but ill let ppl add to it or change wat ive done

When I refer to a "solo," I'm talking Deep Peace, Away, Nobody's Here, Stagnant, those songs all have solos. The stuff you are talking about in Babysong serves as the main melody line throughout a large portion of the song. That aint a solo.

Gaia, I would once again only classify as a melody line. Lots of repetition.

I'm still listening for the one in Judgement...? I think all of the ones you are referring to are just melody lines. For instance, the very melodic middle part in Master of Puppets by Metallica is a melody line with a harmony...FOLLOWED by a solo, then back into that melody line. The line that repeats itself is not a solo. I'm having a hard time conveying what I'm trying to say in this medium. I'm not trying to be a dick or condescending, I'm just trying to justify my slight complaint about the lack of solos.

The album still rules, I just wish it had some Terria-esque solos on it, they work really well, especially with the very epic nature of the albums.

That's about how I've been hearing it. Some lines I can't translate because of the guitars and keys and synths sort of overlapping the vocals. But I still sing like a motherfuck to that song though, it's awesome!

Wow, this album is incredibly beautiful. Do any of you remember the movie Ferngully? If that movie should have a soundtrack, this would be it.

I can't do ratings anymore. Up until this point Infinity was my favourite, but now I realize that there is no way to say favourite with Devin anymore. They are all such different moods, going to different places and saying things in different ways... I can't say that any one is any better than any other, emotionally. Technically, I would say that Synchestra, Infinity, Terria, Ocean Machine, City and Alien are Devin's greatest achievements though. As to 'best', I can't do it.
Yea, for me it comes totally down to what mood I'm in =\. Sometimes I think Infinity is like the best thing ever, but others its kinda boring... similar things with all the other albums too.

Well that's true..Oh and i know i forgot Infinity...I couldn't think where to put that one. I mean, If im in a really relaxed mood, then i pop in Terria, etc...with other albums. I've probably been through Synchestra 5 times so far, I mean, I remember when the first time i lasted through Gaia and got tired..I mean, The hardest track to get into for me was Vampolka/Vampira, now it's one fo my fave's. I probably got about 2-3 more listens before i put out my FULL ALBUM REVIEW.

Oh my God!
The album is absolutely fantastic. To me, it sounds like a mixture between Terria and Ocean Machine, spiced with a bit of Infinity and Alien. And same as Terria, this album creates pictures of beautiful landscapes in your mind.

Thank you Devin, for this beautiful masterpiece!!!

You are wrong on the chorus part. Devin even says it in the "Here's the story" thread.

It's: One WORD ... COLLECTIVE!
