Vampolka reminds me of my Dad because the main riff is an old Country Western song that my Dad taught me when I picked up the guitar so that we could have something to play together. It's a really simple but fun riff to play

Well...I was going to wait until the official release to say anything....but, you know how that goes.

BTW, as a disclaimer...I AM buying the official release WITH the DVD, I must have the DVD! Also...I am an audiophile and I have to have the full sound experience with the real CD.
I know Dev don't like downloading, but to know this amazing work of art is out there, but you can't have it, is like putting a steak on a pitbull's nose and telling it not to eat until dinner. I do feel terrible about it and I have been fighting with myself on if I should delete it or not.

Analogies aside....I do not download music UNLESS it is pre-release fare I cannot stand to be without, and then I do purchase the real release when it's out. This is rare and happened with Alien, and......that's about it. Everything else I have is rips of my own music and is NOT shared because...not only do I NOT want to go to court and owe money forever, but like Tracy said...it really screws the artists....also the music on my computer is not mine to share.

Dev...I hope you don't hate me.....I will buy the CD, I swear. As with Alien, once I have the CD, I will delete the files I have and rip Synchestra as a lossless WMP file.....I'll have 55+ MB songs, but oh well. Synchestra will NEVER be shared.

Now.
All I can say about this album is that I have not listened to anything else at all since I got it. The main reason I haven't deleted the leak is because I won't be able to listen to anything else for a while....

Also...the leak is in 192Kb files. These files are already too powerful and I've had to turn my winamp and 4Front EQ10 gains almost all the way down or it clips. The 808 bass bombs kill!
I can imagine the sound Q of the official release!!

I've had the melody of Vampira and Vampolka in my head for two days...gahhhhh! lmao!
Babysong is one of my favorites as is Pixillate, A Simple Lullaby, (I love the drum at the end when you think the song is over!) Triumph, and of course Sunshine And Happiness. There is not ONE weak song on the entire CD, but those stand out the most so far. Some say there is filler, but I have no idea what songs people think are filler and why!

Also...people are comparing the album's sound to Infinity and Terria...to me, this album don't feel like ANYTHING Dev has released so far. It feels completely 100% brand new and different. The solo in Triumph is freakin' amazing! Steve outdid himself there!

Man...I will be so happy to get the CD and DVD when it's out, I can hardly wait!! I need extra copies in the wrapper in case I ever wear out a copy or lose a liner note booklet.
Shit...what I feel like is buying a few extra copies and handing them out to random people. EVERYONE has to hear this!

I catch fleeting glimpses of past albums, nothing that stands out, just bits that make me go "HEY! Was that...?" You know?

Dude, I was thinking the same thing today, it is very Mr. Bungle and it took me this long to realize it !!!! Good ear bro, I'm in total agreement with you there !

I still think it sounds like Dog Fashion Disco meets Finntroll meets Insane Clown Posse! Ridiculous, I know, but if you've heard those band you'll understand.

Yeah, it has the feel of "Ma Meeshka Mow Skwoz" from Disco Volante, but the initial surf guitar riff is actually right out of "Pipeline" by The Chantays!

I've got problems with the production. Devin's production as of late has really been slipping. Alien and Synchestra sound WAY too dead and compressed. I mean, all his stuff is highly compressed. but Terria and Infinity were much more detailed. Everything crept through. I don't know, I'm still trying to get into it, but it's just not clicking with me.

The Alien production was Dev's best Strapping production job yet, IMO. Finally a sharp and detailed drum sound. Every instrument and effect was audible and transparent, despite the huge wall of sound. From the six or seven minutes of Synchestra that I've heared prior deleting the files again, I've recorgnized a lack of the snare drum in the mix, as I've stated earlier - but that was just the sound of an mp3, so I'll I have to wait for the proper output before bitching and looking like an ass...

The production/mix of Ocean Machine, Infinity an Terria was impeccable, I give you that. But so was the sound on Accelerated Evolution. So I fail to see "slipping" standards as far as Devin's later productions are concerned. (Oh, and didn't Devin need two seperate mixes to finalize Infinity in a satisfying way? I seem to remember such statements in interviews during the Infinity era...)

Why don't you just wait for the final product? If I miss the snare in the mix on the actual Synchestra CD, I'll come back on January 27th and ask Dev and Ryan again if that was intentional... 8)

The copy I have sounds fine. There's definitely a snare & there's no excess compression.

It's probably the MP3 quality you got.
