Was Devin reading Batman: Arkham Asylum when he wrote City??

I was re-reading the classic Batman Tale 'Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth' and I noticed some remarkably familiar bits of dialogue.

First off, the Joker says "Is this what it all comes down to - all our hopes and aspirations? Nothing but Vomit? Oh God, I'm afraid"
Which is similar to the Detox lyric: "...So Here's All My Hopes And Aspirations Nothing But Puke God, I'm So Lonely..."

"It's quite possible we may be looking at some sort of super-sanity here. A Brilliant modification of Human perception. More Suited to urban life at the end of the twentieth Century.
Which is similar to the OMFG lyric: "There Is No Insanity, Rather A Super Sanity More Suited For Life At The End Of The 20th Century"

This may be a coincidence, and if not I am not saying that Devin ripped it off, I just found it interesting.

Will you eat the City booklet if it's just a coincidence? *looking for a soulmate*

I showed my friend that part from OMFG a couple years back, and then he showed me that part from the comic (it was on some site that had a bunch of junk about the Joker). Seeing that definitely surprised me.

I really doubt it's a coincidence. Super-sanity isn't exactly a word you hear too often, is it?

Also, earlier this year I decided to read that actual comic (having completely forgotten that that came from it). I of course was surprised again :D . I don't remember seeing the Detox parallel, but that definitely fits pretty closely.

By the way, Grant Morrison is a God, he ranks just under Alan Moore in my books.

Yes, he was reading it at the time and did use it for lyrical ideas. "It is a great comic". You, sir, do not need to consume your booklet.
