Hummer Sales Figures

Hey Tracy,

I was wondering how the Hummer is doing sales-wise since I remember reading that the first pressing (only?) consisted of 500 copies. I guess you based this number on your experiences from the demand for Devlab, but are my worries that it could be sold out soon anyway justified? I don't think that I'll be able to order it from HDR before next year, so it would be a relief to hear that there'll be another pressing when those 500 are sold.

Amen. I'm sitting at home chewing on my nails, such a nervous guy am I at the moment. I bet there are more than we two which are hoping to get our hands on that thing before it's sold out. :? :D

I'm there'll be pressed some more once it's (almost) sold out. Spreading the total production in multiple smaller stages reduces the amount of fortune 'lost' in the stock, and also spreads the risk of the album not selling as much as expected.

:D

Hey I'm in the same boat. Been short on cash lately, so this is the first time in nearly 10 years that I haven't got a Dev album as soon as it was released. It fucking kills me. But not as much as it would kill me if they sold out. I don't know what I'd do.

This might be a slight guideline towards the sales figures:

1. The Hummer (384 Listeners)
http://www.last.fm/music/Devin+Townsend/_/The+Hummer

2. Consciousness Causes Collapse (257 Listeners)
http://www.last.fm/music/Devin+Townsend/_/Consciousness+Causes+Collapse

3. Arc (287 Listeners)
http://www.last.fm/music/Devin+Townsend/_/Arc

4. Equation (269 Listeners)
http://www.last.fm/music/Devin+Townsend/_/Equation

5. The Abacus (240 Listeners)
http://www.last.fm/music/Devin+Townsend/_/The+Abacus

6. Cosmic Surf (227 Listeners)
http://www.last.fm/music/Devin+Townsend/_/Cosmic+Surf

If you get the average those 6 amounts of listeners you get 277. So I guess its fair to say that a bit over half of the original 500 are gone.

Or I could just fuck off...

I think this is the correct option here (no offence meant in any way!)

you have to take into account, that:

1. not everyone who has listened to it, must have acquired a legal copy. they could have downloaded it
2. not everyone who bought the Hummer automatically uses last.fm

but you're right in that aspect, that it might be an indicator as to where the sales figures may lie...because said two aspects might as well cancel each other out.

or maybe I could just fuck off, too

To paraphrase Jerry Lee Lewis, "Whole lot of fuckin' off goin' on".

For those who do not have a copy yet...it's oft been said that there shall be means to aqcuiring yon disc...

I knew it couldn't be 100% accurate... It was just to give some very rough idea of numbers of copies shifted, cos there hasn't been indication of how much of it has sold. And I like to keep faith that people haven't put Hummer up for download, naive as the thought is. :)

I don't like posting sales figures. If you say you sold more than someone likes, they resent it. If you sold less, people assume the record sucks. Best to stay a mystery.
