So far as I know, Devin wrote the bulk of it, made demos then gave the demos to the band to rehearse while he was on tour with DT. The guys added some embellishments of their own that were worked out in the studio.

The reason for the speed was the label asked if it would be possible for Devin to make a record before summer. It was a challenge and he took it. Not every record needs to be a tortured masterpiece, he wanted to have some fun with it. There was bound to be a backlash because people don't seem to want fun from Strapping but in it's purest form, humour and fun are a huge part of it [see 'Heavy as a...]. Some people take their music waaaay too seriously.

I agree. I am one of those that did download it as Devin is like crack to me (I will buy it from HDR, as always, but I know that's no justification). My issue is those people that just don't seem to get it, likely newer, younger fans that don't seem to put the effort forth to fall in love with a band simply because they don't have to work for it. It's all there for free! But anyone who actually knows SYL, and Devin for that matter, shouldn't ever be complaining about the humor involved! I mean, that IS Devin, you know? It's part of his music, always has been.

Sure, dislike the music, whatever, you don't have to like the music, but you can't make something out of nothing and that nothing being exactly what changed: nothing.
