Hi Tracy,

What kind of music do you listen to? I mean, are you a Metalhead yourself or do you listen to completely different stuff? And what are your favorite bands or artists?
Thanks in advance,

-Lars-

Certainly not a metal head.

It's been a long time since anything has really "done it for me" musically (other than Devin's). Probably the Wildhearts were my last "favourite band". I'm definitely more alternative rock than metal. I just need certain criteria in music that seems to be lacking in everything I hear now. 1. melody 2. a vocalist who sounds like he actually means what he's/she's singing about 3. a little originality. I'm sure there are some out there but I certainly haven't heard them.

If anyone knows of anyone, I'm really open to hearing it.

well, do you know Porcupine Tree? I gotta whore for them all the time because they rule. They're also not really heavy. I think Ryan gave Devin a CD or two by them. :D

There are many. Storm and Kingdom have the most personal meaning so they would be at the top.

[Not in order]
Hide Nowhere (acoustic)
Truth
Colonial Boy
War
Material
Earth Day
Deep Peace
Random Analysis
Slow Me Down
Depth Charge
I Am
Ocean Machines
Ascent to the Summit of Black Mountain (played for me on our first date in the car crossing the Lions Gate Bridge - Burned into my memory)
Red Tomorrow
Thick Stock (all 2336 versions of it)
Aftermath
Relentless
Centipede
Japan
AAA
Shine
Love?
Skeksis

I'm sure there are others but those are off the top of my head. Picking any from Terria or AE is hard coz I like all of them.

Don't listen to him, listen to Porcupine Tree if you're having a hard time sleeping!! =)

You need to listen to The Coral and Therapy?, and a little Ani Difranco. That should do ya good!!

Yes, I agree. These are some really great, melodic alternative rock albums. Leitmotif is excellent as well!!

I really loved Ani Difranco until she went all jazzy and annoying.

All of these suggestions will be looked into.

See other topic where I said all of Devin's master tapes were ruined in the flood. A few DAT tapes of unknown content survived somewhere but all of the important 2 inch and ADATs were destroyed.

you have far too many favourites, may as well list the entire dev discography :D

and i second the suggestion to look into Porcupine Tree, they are just brilliant! :)

since you only listed your last "favourite band", what are the other bands which have been your "favourite" or youve loved hearing?

Ummm... Okay, artists that I have liked recently if not gone binky over...

Radiohead
Placebo
REM
Black Eyed Peas

I don't know... I listen to everything on mixed mp3 cds so I can hear 60 bands a week. The above are the only ones who've stood out (Let me clarify that none of these are illegal downloads).

Favourites ever? I was a HUGE Duran Duran fan in 1983. I came of age in the hair metal/grunge era so all of those Skid Row, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Redd Kross, Faster Pussycat, Blind Melon, Faith No More, Saigon Kick, Jane's Addiction... A lot of people dismiss it but from 1989-1995 was a pretty darn cool time for music. I'd love to get that inspired again.
