I would recommend Muse most definately ... something to fit every mood.

Faster Pussycat ... god that takes me back :) Bathroom Wall was one of my bounce around the house before going out tracks :) Thankfully there are very few pictures of me around glammed up though I still have my cavalier's jacket and a pair of jeans i spent months embroidering lurking somewhere ... not that I would be able to fit into them anymore

And I third that :D One of the best bands I have ever seen or heard. Absolution in particular rules.

See also Jeff Buckley, The Mars Volta, Tori Amos (check out From the Choirgirl Hotel) and Massive Attack (Mezzanine and 100th Window are two of the best albums I've ever heard)

I got Jeff Buckley, it was... depressing and kinda boring. And am I the only one (other than Devin) who finds Tori Amos's screeching unbearable? When she's good she's great but she goes into these screaming fits that makes me avoid her all together. Yes, I agree on Massive Attack and will check out Mars Volta.

From The Choirgirl Hotel is the BEST Tori Amos release and I think after this one she lost a bit of her madness and orginality. If you check this album try to find the Spark EP with a song named "Bachelorette", this one should have been on the record.

Sigur Ros is hypnotic, if you can check some of her videos too ... That's pretty well done

Personally I don't understand the attraction to her music at all, not one little bit  Another Band I love is Portishead for chilling and awful singing along to when noone is around. Tricky - Maxinique (sp?) is not my usual cup of tea but I heard one track and had to by the album there and then .. and was 2 hours late for work because i couldnt stop listening to it ... Perhaps I'm just being proud of Bristol as they are all from my neck of the woods lol.

Do you sing or play any instruments Tracy? You wouldn't think of covering Mull Of Kintyre with Devin, as a little homage to Paul and Linda McCartney?

Oh I just thought of something that might be of interest to you. There's this local "punk cabaret" drum/keys duo called The Dresden Dolls. They're lyrically clever and have a very strong, unique presence.

I saw a video by them on TV here and it was really interesting indeed.

The videos can be kind of frustrating. "Girl Anachronism" and "Coin Operated Boy" are the two least representative tracks on the album. Still, they are quite fun live. The drummer, Brian, gets so into pounding during "Girl..." that he nailed me in the head with stick shrapnel once.

I can't believe I forgot to recommend Bjork. 'Vespertine' is the shit. Monster Magnet are great as well if you dig on the ROCK

And you should check out Devin Townsend, he does alright too.

Just a small suggestion: Do nothing what you love while you're hearing The Mars volta. I was about playing my guitar after listening to them, the result was that I smashed the guitar against the wall. No offence, but it was absolutely encouraging. IMO, they've done a great piece of work.
