HAHA! That's beautiful. The guy is a genius at cramming wonderful noise in...

I think it's more the fact that those parts are generally just louder than the rest (guitar/keyboard climaxes), and the fact that Devin's vocals occupy those bits is just a red herring.

No, I disagree. There are a lot more layers going on when Devin is in the mix. He's got multiple vocal layers and violin, in addition to the normal keyboard and guitar business. I think there is a connection between the walls of sound that Arjen had him send in and the physical displays of walls of sound on the picture over there. I dunno, though. Heh.

Just vocal layers. Like, 20 of them!

actually by what i remember, Devin asked to do everything on those parts. Obviously at least part of the instrumental is Arjen's doing, but still, i think that the myriad of vocal layers and effects to fill up the wall can do that to the waveform.

I'm tempted to get that Ayreon album now. From what I've heard of it, the music is not to my taste at all, but Devin's vocal parts on Pain are just immense.

I'm always a sucker for music that has a lot of layers of harmonies doing different things at the same time.

Yeah, Devin's only on, what, three songs? A bit unfortunate, but not too bad. I think the vocals are just spectacular all around on that album.

Yeah, it was my impression that Devin did a lot more than just the vocals. He got a demo and then put his part together and sent that back to Arjen. So, he followed what Arjen had written but he put the Devy Sound into it. It's very obvious to me that he did the music for that section he sang on.

Dev did 25 vocal tracks for each song on The Human Equation, right? I think he said that. His part in "Loser" still gives me goose bumps every time I hear it! Simply brilliant!

Hi guys, two years isnt much time to wait, did you forgotten how much time Metallica did us wait between "Ride the Lighting" and "Master of Puppets".
Maybe i'm would say this, but looking at Devin's career and his way of working i really doubt that he needs 2 years for making that album. He surely needs time for him and his family, and probably well see many colaborations on another band's albums from Devin.
Anyway, this is my first post in this forum so dont fuch too much with this :), I really like and respect Devin's work alone or with SYL/DTB.

P.D.: English is not my mother tongue (Of course the tongue of my mother didnt have any name... Spanish humor sucks xD)
