Hey Tracy. I know that your dear husband is very busy right now with SYL and it looks like this won't change much during the next months and I absolutely respect his hard work and passion, so I hope my questions don't sound greedy or as if I wanted Dev to do three or four different things at the same time (though I sometimes get the impression that he actually does that)

...Anyway, I was wondering what happened to his plans for an acoustic album. I think it was in late '05 when you mentioned it. Did he change his mind again or was it just postponed because of his work with Strapping? Has he already written some parts or even full songs? Now that I think of it, Let It Roll from Synchestra comes to my mind, and this was an excellent combination of the acoustic guitar and Dev's singing. So I think it would be wonderful if this would happen. Any information about it would be much appreciated *ahem*

Thanks,

Chris

And the power metal album, and the puppet show, and a million other things! Hahaha. Devin speaks his ideas, not his plans. Hahaha.

It still want him to do it but with acoustic versions of current tracks and a maybe a few new ones. Not a whole new album. Some of the older songs sound awesome "unplugged" (Hide Nowhere for example). However, he's not as keen on it at the moment, preferring to spend spare time on electronic stuff like finishing Hummer. I'll keep bugging but he can't be forced.

Tracy, would you recommend the official bootleg CD as an example of "unplugged" Devin? I heard Devin was unhappy with it but i'd love to hear his acoustic show.

Sure. Devin was happy with it at the time as it represented the band - that is the band in 2000. It is the SYL guys playing DT material too, not the DT band. It's not a great performance given his current standards. It's frankly pooey given what the songs are like live today. The acoustic show is fun because it was a one-off show in a crappy club with next to no preparation.

I am trying to get him to record a new bootleg in time for Christmas but am encountering hesitation. Perhaps one should not start this pestering at the tail end of album recording when he's exhausted?

If he's exhausted, wait until he's sleeping and then do a little subliminal whispering...

"new bootlegg...newww booootleggg..."

(if you read this Devin...I had a gun at my head...) :quiet:

First of all, thanks for your answer, Tracy.

If this record will ever be done and Devin needs some inspiration for which of his older songs to perform on it, maybe this could help:
