My thoughts exactly as well! That's a cruelly rude awakening after such an aural journey called Ocean Machine. The musical equivalent of internet shocker/screamer sites!
Funny, these hidden messages that come after a period of silence following the last song on an album seem to come in two flavours: harmless pointless rambling or little skits after many, many minutes the actual track has ended (e.g. found in Mastodon's Pendelous Skin and Bruce Dickinson's The Alchemist), and then there's Things Beyond Things... A rather short silence followed by an totally blood-curdling shriek.
Note to self: make screamless cd-r of OM in case of any "special occasions"

I already made an edited mp3 version of it. Listening to the OM cd indeed requires either keen reflexes to pop it out before the wakeup call or at least try to keep in mind it's lurking in there waiting to scare you shitless.
