That song truly is a great epic, when you consider see theme of the lyrics. I always get a picture in my head where the world is blown to pieces and I stand on a part of what's left looking out into space and see planets and stars literaly fall like rain.
Man, I want it to rain so that I can put on that song in the perfect mode.

It certainly is one of his best and its the best song on the album, the middle is so great i get tears in my eyes every time i hear it, and the main riff is so mesmerizing even though its quite simple, and i love how it tags into the crazy bonustrack.
static wrote:i find the first half kinda boring. it's a very Dev-like piece at that point, seen in other songs too (Spirituality, Thalamus) - heavy, repeated riffs going in simple cycles with very epic lyrics over top.
i enjoy the song, but see it as a bit too long, even for Dev standards. something like Earth Day, which is only a couple minutes shorter and also contains lots of repetition and heaviness, is a hell of a lot less boring than Planet Rain.
however, i really couldn't imagine PR without its 11-minute running time, so i guess it was a moot point to bring up...
Planet Rain shits on Earth Day.
I agree with this thread. It's in my top 5 Dev tracks. Heavy as hell, atmospheric as hell and basically just damn fine.
Of course, I consider Physicist to be under-rated. Other than OM, it's the Dev album I play the most.
At the moment, I'm gonna say Planet Rain. This may be due to the fact that I'm a little mad at my friend, and he's obsessed with Earth Day
Its a good song but I kind of find it too repetative. Kingdom, Material, and Namaste are definetly more of my favorite songs on the album.
I do wish DTB would play any of these songs live.

Its sooo.. thrashy, yet, melodic and 'Zenny' if I can use that word..
You can really feel the music in this song...
I could meditate to this song!
Its just.. awesome, can't really pin-point how I feel about it still though..

'..you dont want to see somebody disappear into chaos, you dont want to see somebody scratching and clawing there way towards death..'
I love the song but I gotta agree with Kingdom being my fave on the album

To me this is one of Dev's best epics. The feeling this song has especially towards the end is almost teary. I love the part where he goes "I'm Sorry" Over and over in a big climatic way. It's just really powerful and moving
Anyone else feel this way about this song?
HA! I've been saying it for years, "Planet Rain" is the best fucking song on this CD!! When I first heard the song and the chorus kicked in I thought I was about to get struck by lightning because the hair on my head stood up and I got goosebumps!! When Devin screams "Cuz it's the end of the world!" HOLY FUCK!!! To this day, I get goosebumps!! It's simply amazing!!! For me, this is Devin's best epic tune. It's fucking brilliant! Plain and simple!!
Holy shit, Eyesore! I was listening to this song today and for me it's exactly as you've described it! You, my friend, are a genius!
Seriously, I have an MP3/WMA-capable stereo in my truck, went on a long road trip this morning for a fishing tournament and then back again, both ways "Planet Rain" played when I had my DT/SYL CD playing on shuffle and let me tell ya, the song NEVER gets old. Even though it's 11 minutes long, it never gets old. All 11 minutes are awesome.
And I still get chills!
