Hey everyone,

I thought I would post some words about an RVP session that is now completed and waiting to be released....

The album by Vivien Lalu titled "Oniric Metal , which I recorded drumtracks on, is now finished. I just recieved my copy of the finished album today in the mail from Vivien.

If you dig progressive metal ala' Dream Theatre, then you'll love this outing by Viv'. I just finished listening to the whole album with all the final musical additions, final mixes and mastering. WOW  Viv' did a great job. All the instruments and vocals sound awesome and everyone on the album does an incredible job musically, especially this crazy guitar player by the name of Joop Wolters....holy shit  can this guy play guitar !!! I'm very proud of this recording and highly recommend it to any of you progressive music fans out there.

The album will be released on March 25th 2005 thru Lion Music. For more info on this album and Vivien Lalu (Deathstorm AKA Jack Sparrow on these HDR board's) go to http://www.lalusworld.com ....another beautiful site designed by Geoff "The :speedo: Master". For those of you who end up buying the record.... I really hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I do !

That French Bastard does'nt know how talented he really is !!!! This is a very cool record...

Thanks for the kind words Geoff, "Night in Poenari" was a fun song to record... It even has a fun blast beat that I play for a little bit !!! I'm not supposed to give that away...

lol

Seriously, this song is a masterpice for me. The orchestration and these vocals are awesome. I won't spoil the surprise but this is the kind of prOgressive opera rock track I love !!! Savatage meeting with Dream theater for a big orgy with pavarotti students ... OMFG

Seriously and sorry to spam this place with my little stories, but I had the chance to listen to the early days demos of LALU, without drums and bass and the sound was awesome already. Martin added a powerful touch a la Geoff Tate on this record and when I first heard the vocals I was blown away. Joops is awesome too. Everything this guy plays seem so easy. So easy. Russ brings the final touch to the mox and I like how thw bass is mixed. Everything is so clear and well produced for a newbie

Now please, everybody should subscribe to the LALU forums and spam Vivien for the "Hide nowhere" LALU cover. He should release it somewhere.
This cover is perfect. There are not a lot of people covering Devin Townsend material and I can tell you this, this one really rocks !!!

Geoff

No matter the sound quality, it's nice to see someone coming with a Devin Townsend material cover ... Nice one, and nice bedroom recording :P

Viv my friend, you rock !!!

that´s pretty damn awesome for a bedroom recording dude! And I like the quiet ending of that song. You should think about recording a soundscape Album type of thing.

EphelDuath666 & Blazingmonga > I love your avatars (Geoff yours sucks LoL)

Well reg. Oniric Metal...really stop talking about it, it's a simple record and I don't want you guyz to be disapointed at the end LOL. It's really a "normal" record, trust me, there's nothing like "breath taking" or so, just my will to write my name somewhere on a wall of this huge city that music is.

Ryan is just kind, he works with Devin so he knows what a "good production" is. Oniric still sound like a "bedroom record" if ya know what I mean (not totally thanks Jay VP, Joop & Phil Hillen). Just a pentium/PC, warez software, and a Roland keyboard to make it. And much coffee. But anyway, fuck it I did all I could and I'm just happy that I could fulfil the dream to appear with artists I admire. See, Joop Wolters (my long time guitar hero), Ryan Van Poederooyen (I've been a fan since his appearance in the DTB), there were just Russell Bergquist I didn't know (although I heard about Annihilator). Martin LeMar is..... nobody LOL

Also I am proud I can call Geoff a friend and the website he did is the best present ever done to me in a while. What can I say? I'M NOT WORTH IT. THANKS ALL OF YOU GUYZ!!!!!!!!!

<voice> Hey Viv', sorry but this is a HDR forum

Oh yeah, damn, I forgot, sorry 'bout that... LOL I'm turning the page.
The Devin Townsend cover, damn, I thought I should feel ashamed LOL I really thought that was crap, but I was proud to give a try on a DT song. There are a lot of changes, especially in the drums section, I tried to give much more of a "Gene Hoglan / SYL" feel to it LOL

See you guyz, you're just all WAY TOO COOL and i don't deserve such great words. But my slaves do!

V.

PS: for those who never heard my other project "Shadrane", I got 4 samples uploaded on the official site yesterday. Here is a bad ass californian tune of mine i wanna share with ya all!!!!!!:

...And a new keyboard video :)

Viv, don't be sorry. This is an RVP drums discussion about the different projects I've done and I think it's important that people know about this excellent record "Oniric Metal", which happens to be one of the best sessions I've ever done. Please don't apologize again or I'll have to come out to France and kick your "Baguette" ass

Once again, this is an awesome record that DOES sound very good (don't listen to Viv) and the talent on the record is insane. It'll be worth checking out everyone, if you're into progressive music and if you're not into progressive music...this album could change your mind !

Lastly, great job on the "Hide Nowhere" cover Viv. I remember when you showed it to me a long time ago and you wanted me to play drums on it ! We just never got around to it. It sounds awesome....great job, you crazy french bastard !

Salute Vivien Lalu !!! Keep up the great work........
