So Beav and I were discussing this last night, but I also wanted an opinion from you guys. We have a song on the new record that's 13 mintutes long. I'm trying to decide if I should put ID's on it or make it just one. Originally we wanted tracks ID's on that song, but then as I was listning to it in my ipod, there were annoying breaks between the song and it wrecked the flow.

Have you guys had any problem with MP3 players and concept songs? I found it totally sucked therefore we want to make it just one song.

Opinions please?

I don't have an MP3 player, but WinAmp used to cause this problem for me with any album where the transition between tracks is smooth...but I fixed it with a gapless audio plugin.

Long songs are always good though, so I think you should stick with it.

If the song was thought as a single 13 minutes track, don't put IDs. IMO breaks are annoying.

If its meant to be 13 minutes long, then make it 13 minutes long. Don't break it up unless it becomes a very different song. As you say, mp3 players can be annoying.

Yeah, hands down!
I HATE when I listen to songs that should follow without any break and then you have that hellish break... sucks as hell...

I was disgusted the first time I put some SYL and Dev's stuff on mp3...
all these breaks kill me...

I'd totally prefer one long track except for small parts.

13 minutes.

If it is to be an epic, then let it happen. :D

Long songs are awesome.

fuck it go 13 minutes

You're right, I hate that about concept albums that flow when you listen to it as mp3 but, there is a way around it so the tracks flow seamlessly. HOWEVER, its too much fucking around, keep it as 13 minutes so no one has to do shit.

Pink Floyd does it and those hacks have nothing on your guys.

Put IDs on it, lest you end up with only 9 tracks total for the album.

There will be 11 tracks, I'm going to break it up after Pocket Watch, it'll be a 45 minute record.

For all you who own ipods I found how to solve this problem. When you import CD's if you use Join CD tracks and select the ones that are supposed to be one song in a row, it'll link them. Bad news, you lose the info about the song.

13 minutes isnt too long. I have seen individual songs be even longer. Its not like its one of those one tracker cds. So dont break it up into sections, keep it as one.

Problem solved, record the album as just one track :)

I think you should have it as one track. Breaking it up ruins it completely for the people who use shuffle.
