So, when I found out yesterday that my roommate wasn't going to be back until today, I decided to lay down an extremely spur-of-the-moment cover of "Sit in the Mountain." My rig, if you can call it that, is simply composed of an Ibanez AS73 artcore, a Line 6 Spider II amp, a Zoom G2 multi-bank effect pedal, and a USB microphone. All guitar and vocals were recorded in Audacity. Drum track was created in FL Studio 6.

If you would like to listen to my little attempt, go to http://www.myspace.com/mcschiefy

It isn't much, especially compared to the Dev's version, but I was itching to record a version of this song, so I took my opportunity. It starts kinda slow, but whatev! Sorry about the vocals... 8)

Made me think of Sonic Youth covering Devin. It was interesting.

I'm not a big fan of the guitarsound, but then again, that is all a matter of taste ofcourse.
Next time, really try to tune your guitar right. It is pretty obvious that the lowest string is pretty false. A good hint is to intonate your guitar to open C tuning, if you're playing in this tuning a lot.

According to my tuner, it was tuned correctly to CGCGCE. My strings are kinda on the light side, though, but I checked the tunings a few times throughout the couple hours I was recording, and none of the strings really needed much tweaking.

But yeah, I knew the song wasn't going to be anything out of this world or anything, and I didn't want to spend huge amounts of time playing with little things (I have an assload of college poop to worry about). But I just wanted to throw it out there in case someone may dig it.

hi there!

the guitar sounds indeed a bit slobby, but the song is totally recognizable, and it's nice to hear how many bits and pieces of the original production you've taken care of ("what have you done everybody...")
the atmosphere is very pleasant. you like delays and reverbs, don't you?
and i like your voice! you should probably use a compressor on it, at least in your version of things beyond things, there are some rather not-so-good changes in volume you could get rid of this way.
anyway, keep up the work and inform us about your progress!

ah yes, and i've invited you to become friends with knorke südfrucht, so don't be scared :D
