My new (first) completed song!

Ironically this was just done without the use of a proper soundcard or my Gibson SG, just lined straight into my Dell laptop with integrated sound. I'm very happy with the sound considering I couldn't actually hear what I was playing. I used a PRS tremonti se as it was the only guitar I have back at my parents house.

This was initially going to be a 20 minute song but I scrapped most of the parts and kept it short. I may complete the extended version later on.

I have no idea what genre this fits into, space atmospheric pop black metal?

Have a listen and see what you think.

Duuuuuuude!! If you dare criticise your writing skills again, I will personally whoop your ass!! That was awesome, it's got all these "unobvious" parts to it..there's nothing I dislike more than cliched riffs. And you're right, considering those limitations, the sound's pretty good. I'm really impressed - what you using for your drums?

The only thing I'm not a fan of is that riff about 1min 35...I think maybe I'd prefer the single notes to ring out over the second half of the riff it that makes sense? Down to you though

Haha thanks, this song sounds vaguely normal compared to some of the stuff i'm thinking up. I'm a sucker for odd riffs too, I promised myself to never start a generic melo death band.

The riff at 1:30 is definately something that sounded better in my head. I know exactly what you mean 8)

For the drums I used the samples Andy Sneap put on his forum somewhere along with the free natural drum kit. Then it was the painful task of putting together each riff in Leaf drums and then sticking them all in a line in Tracktion

Awesome track OliK!

I would love to hear what this would sound like recorded with a proper soundcard and your Gibson SG, as the production is the only aspect I can criticise with this. It does sound very good though, just not as clear as it could be.

I think your songwriting skills are excellent, and I shall add this track to my personal collection.

Wow cool, glad you enjoyed it! I'm in the process of updating it now along with extending it too. It's a lot easier being able to hear it as I go along this time.
