My bands first cd is going off to be printed and pressed today so we finally got through all the crap and got it done. It was our first attempt at anything like this so it's pretty average but for $140 Australian dollars and having done it all ourselves with no acual experience it's a pretty good effort I think. I did the mixing myself as with everything else it was my first try so keep that in mind. We don't have much webspace on our site yet so I've only got one track to show off. Which was Cold: and had been changed to Shadows Of A Golden Age:

I'd just like to thank everyone who helped me out on the board here. I don't pretend to know much about mixing but anything I know I learned from you guys or got from trying to copy Devin. Hope you enjoy it if you want to know any more about it the website is http://www.shadowsage.com (if thats to close to advertising just edit it) Tell me what you think but remeber we already know it sucks. Haha... yeah

Anyway my band finished our cd and we've acually been selling it quite well locally. I've put a few more things up on our site if anyone is interesting. http://www.shadowsage.com check out the news section to see any and everything interesting or if your lazy but still interested theres an mp3 of the 6th track of our cd : Shadows Of A Golden Age (yes thats the name of the song, the band, and the cd but we are lazy)

At least the link to your page worked, I'll try it from there.

Looks really good...

Oh, and if there'll ever be an official fan-club - I mean, after your first album got platin-status in 20 different countries - make sure my membership card is numbered as NR1

Link worked for me.

Reminds me a little of Tool in some parts. I like the bass up in the mix. Good job! 8)

Wow thanks for the good reviews. It's great to finally get some feedback from people who havent known me for years. I am the bass player and I did the mixing so the bass being up in the mix is quite on purpose I'm glad you like it. Thanks again, I'll update again if we ever put anything new up.

I think it was a good (and, since you are the bass player, also an obvious) decision - since you don't only follow the guitar lines, but also use your bass as a melodic instrument, like during the second verse. I wouldn't have done the fade-out, but the bass definitely deserved this volume.

Was it a hard job doing the mixing? I'm asking cause I may judge other's work, but the only thing I sometimes mix are drinks

Thanks again, the fade was because it was the last track of the CD so it felt good to fade it out instead of ending it abruptly, that and none of us were happy with how the last bit sounded on the recording. The mixing was quite hard for me mostly because I'd acually never done it before so I had to learn everything as I went. Once I had some idea of what I was doing it got eaisier and it was just a matter of what sounded best.
