Ministry isn't a bad influence to be in the shadow of, though. Still a huge step up from most modern bands. :)

I like all the new songs, man. The bass tone especially, but I think we glanced over this on MSN a couple of weeks ago... "music where the bass is too low in the music sucks" being the gist of the entire conversation. :P Defenite Ministry influence on this stuff, but it's good, and seems to be climbing in quality, so keep it up. :D

Yeah, but I'd much rather be original. I don't really want to be referred to as "that one guy who sounds like Ministry." I don't want to be in the shadow of anything, you know? I'd rather stand out on my own.

Easy now...be gentle with me! I know who Ministry are, dont worry about that. They are just not a band I have really listened to. I have heard a couple of songs though, but only in passing. Please forgive me! I must have sacrificed that space in my mind to make more room for mango wisdom.

Aaah Josiah, so hard on yourself! Tell me...have Ministry ever released anything as progressive, expansive, layered or downright cool as Borerer? I can see how maybe you would say some of your chugchugchugchuging is Ministry-ish...but the way you work it into a song is totally you. It's not what you got, it's what you do with it!

Josiah Tobin wrote:When you said the second one would be fit for a dancefloor, did you mean the first one? ('For Once') Just seems like that one would fit the description better than a heads-down thrash tune. :P

no, i meant the second one, demo song #29. it's not too metal for those who dig NIN and ministry. it's the chorus that makes me associate it with the dancefloor. it's so fucking catchy! of course, it would have to be the right club where you'd get the people to dance to that stuff.

that swimfail track is also quite a dace tune, but that one's too long and cpomplex to actually become a hit.

and i can agree with monga that besides all similarities, your stuff is still special enough to not be considered a simple copy. most of swimfail doesn't sound THAT much like ministry at all.

Hah, yeah I suppose so. Can't help it a lot of the time though, I have stupid standards for the stuff I write/produce. :P

Yeah, it's kinda making me wish I had used it as a Swimfail tune... :( I'll write something similar for the new album I suppose.

Understandable... though I think my wording was off. Either way? Keep posting stuff, cause I don't think you've posted a single thing I haven't liked, yet. :)

Alright, alright... I've finally given in.

http://www.myspace.com/swimfail

That's right, I've got a MySpace now. Eh, it's useful, so whatever.
Anyway, check out the new track 'Compromise' and listen to me rip off both Ministry's and NiN's sound in one track. Woo! :P

Awesome, thanks! :) I'm trying to approve your request, but MySpace seems to be acting up at the moment (haha, just 'at the moment,' sure...), so I shall do so as soon as I can.

EDIT: There we go, added.
