Hey guys,

I was just wondering what kind of gear is used on the recording of Synchestra. I especially like the bass Mike used on the last tour, and I was wondering what type of bass it was, and if it's used on Synchestra.

If you're lucky enough to snap up a digi-pack with the Safe Zone DVD Devin briefly goes over his guitar rig and I recall he gestures to and mentions Mike's bass at one point...

It's the one with the diamond plate pick guard, if that's anything usefull information?

On Synchestra and live I use a customized Ernie Ball Music Man 5 string. I had EMG's installed and replaced the standard pickguard with checkerplate. Live I use an Ampeg Classic Head and an Ampeg 8x10 cab. I also run through a Sansamp Bassdriver DI. In studio we ran the Sansamp and a clean JDI. We aslo miked the *x10 with the classic head and an SWR 1x18 through an old SM-400 head.

I would really like to know what gear Devin uses to get his vocalsound? Obviously his throat is the main thing but...

...IÃ‚Â´m talking about what mic --> preamp --> compressor combination he uses?

I really love the smooth, rich, full sound in the three latest records (Terria, AE, Synchestra). Especially in "Deadhead" the sound is freaking amazing :shock:

And in Terria the sound is overal very "hifi", which I love!

Any guesses? Or Devin, maybe you could shed some light on the matter? :wink:

(Also what acoustic guitars he uses and what mics to record them? The sound in Synchestra is beautiful!)
