As far as I remember, those nice words are about the owner of the studio in Malaga, where Devin recorded Ocean Machine. If I remember correctly, the equipment wasn't as good as the studio owner claimed it to be and - I could be wrong, it's been quite a while since I read an interview where it was mentioned - finally the recording turned out more expensive than expected.

Yep, that's all correct. The guy lied about what facilities he could offer, then ripped them off when it was time to pay. Devin was not a happy camper.

I think the guy actually withheld some of the tapes from the sessions and demanded Dev pay extra to get them back. I am pretty sure Dev didn't have the money so some of the tapes were lost.

That's so fucked up!
