He was only 38. That's so young...

Just like last year.

I had a soft spot for Slipknot at one time, that softness hardened up and I found other metal. Needless to say, very sad that he passed. RIP.

Happy journeys Pigface.

Very sad indeed. He was expecting his first child.

I was sort of the reverse. I shunned Slipknot as part of my loathing of all things 'Nu-metal' and all it stood. But in recent years I ceased to be so dogmatic and gave them a fair listen and found some of it was actually quite fun. (Slipknot that is. Life is too short to give Nu-metal in general a fair listen.)

Not a massive fan, but sad to hear. Nevertheless it was one of my first metal bands I listened to, which helped in bringing me to more heavier and unique styles of metal. He was so young... :( I don't particularly like the death's we've had with musician's this year so far. Hopefully ol' Lemmy won't die anytime too soon.

HUGE fan. Not so much of him in particular, but Slipknot changed my life for sure. I never wore the overalls and masks or anything silly, but saw them live countless times, and own every album they have. Great dude for sure.

The more threads we have to create to honor dead musicians, the sadder i get.

I loathe Slipknot with a passion, but sad to hear that the guy has passed on.

I have to admit, I saw them in a club in the early days and they blew me away. Not so much musically, mostly with stage presence. I still can't fathom how such simple music requires 37 band members but, touring on that first record, they were a sight to behold.
A year or so later, I saw them play after Slayer (seriously, Slipknot headlined over Slayer) in Detroit at the Tattoo the Earth Festival. Kids, expecting to be upfront for Slipknot, took their place at the barrier for the intermission before the Slayer set. As soon as Slayer's first song was 1/2 over, you could see a stream of crying, bloodied children running away from the stage in horror. Good times...
Seriously, a Slayer show in Detroit is no place for a tween.

RIP Paul, 38 is too young. Unless of course, it was drug related... If so, fuck you, who gives a shit about another dead junkie? If not, RIP.

Fucking grow up.
The death of any person isn't something to be judged by the method upon which it was brought.

Anyway, I was linked to a video of the Slipknot press conference with regards to Pauls death. Thought I'd share it here in case anyone would like to watch:

Very humbling.

Yeah. And fuck you for saying that.

Sincerely,

Dan (recovering junkie)
