Hummmm .... I'm a fan of them both .
They belong to two different Van Halen eras .
I prefere the Hagar era because I really like the "F.U.C.K" and "Balance" records and I think that you have solid compositions there. Ok, Sammy Hagar is not the best song writer in this world ( stupid love songs...I know)but his solo stuff is not bad at all and at least he can write tunes . Lee Roth is more a showman, I like him too but I think that now his solo career is going nowhere while the "redrocker" and the Waboritas still rock.

No it's not, it's obviously Roth!
I'd say that who was the best guitarist to ever play with Ozzy is the most controversial. Was it Tony? Was it Randy? Zakk?

Hagar did a good job in replaceing DLR but it was never the same. DLR is a far superior frontman than hagar so it is definitely DLR.

I like them both.... But truth be told - and don't kill me for this! - I really think that Gary Cherone was best with them... I know, I know, Fair Warning is my favourite album and I'm a huge fan of everything they've done, but I think that III was so much mor emature and varied... It ruled, a very under appreciated masterwork.

The best song that Hagar ever did was without Van Halen. "Can't Drive 55", because I really can't.
Also, in the immortal words of Joe Dirt:
"It's Van Halen, not Van Hagar!"

But then again, DLR was nothing without Van Halen, his solo stuff was awful... Apart from Paradise, which was great because he rock climbs in the video.
