MoP. There's no doubt about it!!! It's definitely the best WHOLE album. But my fave sonx are Fade to black and Dyers Eve. But MoP rocks the whole time.

I never cared for Metallica. They were never relevant for the shaping of my musical tastes. Therefore, I have no nostalgic feelings whatsoever towards any of the early albums. In fact, when I listen to them nowadays, I find them to sound terribly dated. And, what is more, I don't even see what's so "classic" about them. They contain three good songs each at most, "Justice..." even less (one, "One", heh). If you compare, say, Master of Puppets to Slayer's Reign In Blood which came out the same year, it becomes less and less understandable to me how on Earth early Metallica archieved the status they once had.

I never listened to Garage Inc or S&M, nor did I ever feel that I should.

The Black Album is OK, so is Load (Re-Load isn't), though they suffer from inconsistency just as all the others including St Anger, which is my favourite Metallica album simply because it does most for me; I acknowledge it for being the statement it was meant to be.

That is exactly the same way I feel about metallica. Maybe its because I was always more into Megadeth.

well...Metallica used to be my fave band for years. MoP was the first Metal-thing I heard (in 86, I was just 10 years old). It totally blew my mind off...that started my metal-career. I also saw the S&M-show live in Berlin...it was awesome. They are a huuuuge metal-live-act. Saw them nearly 10 times live...and the gig I saw from the snake-pit back in 92 was that great...they are just cool to me...as they changed my life to metal!

You know how "stars" kann achieve things in your life...and that was Metallica to me. So they will always be something special to me...but I don't care that much nowadays...St. Anger sucks. But I would join each gig in the future. :string:

Hahahah..i wish i could have restricted this to a 'poll' only...i love MetallicA and, like anything i like, i hate seeing people bag it/them! Anyways..we have 5 votes so far...MOP prevails at the moment! Definitely a great album...

sorry...it just came over me. Anyone should have his own opinion. That's ok, of course. But that one was mine. :D Won't do it again, bro.

I agree Geoff...considering when it was recorded..and other albums that were recorded at that time..the Black album had and still has a phenomenal sound!

Nils..its ok dude..i wasn't directing it at anyone...just that i see this getting out of hand and people arguing etc... especially with Metallica being the topic..they are always at the centre of debate/attack :(

Dude, what did you expect? This is an internet forum, and you posted something about Metallica, that's bound to get a lot of replies.
I don't see why we shouldn't be arguing, as said, this is a discussion forum after all...

Geoff has locked a few topics for getting out of hand...and 'yes' it is a forum...but that doesn't mean people can bash their beliefs about a band. Opinions...everyone has them...etc etc...but i didn't realise that people could post comments..i though it was purely a poll...my bad....all the same..enjoy!
:)

MoP, without a doubt. It doesn't do the same thing for me as it once did, but it made my head spin the first time I heard it.

What happened over time...did you get bored of it?

Bahhh dudes keep it cool

no problems about arguing or opinions . Simply don't post threads with a title like : "Metallica sucks major ass" or "Fear factory are metal whores" ... etc

Of course that's a public place, we know you can keep it interesting by sharing your opinions, cool and intelligents threads ... No need to come here to bash bands you don't like , that's useless, but bringing the right arguments about "why" you don't like "this" band, is something appreciated

Ah, that makes it easier now....it alleviates the stress of sensless arguments that haven't had much deliberation behind them! But i guess i love Metallica for thier music..not selling out, production, producers etc etc...the music speaks...
