...just another band to perform it!

Ahem, that's what I'm talking about: I never really liked John Lennon's Imagine- and since it was featured in a commercial (don't remember which one it was though) I eventually even got the feeling of being hunted by this song... Don't get me wrong, it's not as if I don't like Lennon at all - I love the Beatles and also some of his solo stuff, which I'm not too familiar with - it's just that this song never clicked. To put it in a polite way.

Yesterday I saw the video clip for A Perfect Circle's version of it (on their aMOTION-DVD). And I was f-u-c-k-i-n-g blown away. I couldn't believe my ears, this was so great. It was still this song... Just turned into something completely new. Does this make sense? No? Well, I never said it would

Anyway, have you ever experienced something alike? That you never really liked a certain song, until another band covered it?

Hm... This topic makes me wish I could listen to SYL's version of What's new, Pussycat right now.

Don´t know the DVD, but i like the eMotive album by A Perfect Circle very much.

- Hurt (NIN) performed by Johnny Cash
- Ring of Fire (Johnny Cash) performed by Frank Zappa
- Gimme Gimme Gimme (Abba) - Yngwie Malmsteen

BZZZT!! "Light My Fire" was written by Robbie Krieger and Jim Morrison.
Jose's version was released a year later.

i actually think the beatles are way way overrated. I mean, they were THE group at their time, but on a general musical view, they could be a lot better.

I think you always have to view the achievements of groups like The Beatles in a time-period context.

Their sounds may be fairly pedestrian by today's standards, but in the 60's...they killed.

that's exactly my point
they were great on the 60's, a total and complete breakthrough, and i respect them for that.
But people DO overrate songs that weren't that much even back on the 60's, just because they were recorded by the beatles
