This is pretty fucking cool. For the same price as buying a normal CD now you can get this lovely digipak with fucking excellent new art and a DVD with entire album in surround sound, a new documentary, the "Grand Conjuration" video clip and a bonus track (the cover of Deep Purple's "Soldier of Fortune" that they were playing on the GR tour)

And I'm on the DVD. Heh. I'm there in the second meet and greet scenario shown towards the end of the documentary, it was in the driveway at the back of The Arena on the Damnation tour.

They were pretty excited about our records; they had never seen the Deliverence picture disks before except for Mikael, he is a keen collector geek who even told us that he signed in the centre of the record so we could still listen to it. He pointed at were Lindgren signed it and said "You see, you'll never play this again!"

So yeah that was an amusing surprise, my friend called me this morning excitedly (he's the biggest Opeth fan I know and he is there on the DVD too) and it was an extra surprise because I only found out about this whole CD/DVD release last night.

For fuck sake Roadrunner, stop putting out a copy of the album then not even a year later put out some fucking digipak. Were all not made of money...but luckly I am and will purchase this little gem. :P

Cheers for the heads up about the digipak, I totally forgot about it. 8)

Ghost Reveries was released late August 2005, that's more than a year ago.

But I get your point and I totally agree. I won't be buying this because I have the original album, don't care about the bonustrack, don't have use for a 5.1 remix (no surround set), I was never a fan of the artwork. I'll just download the documentary.

I ordered mine from The End Records that comes with an autographed booklet. Since I'm conviced that I'll never meet Opeth, this is probably as close as I'll get. haha!

I'm pretty excited about the documentary. They even put Martin "Bass Player" Mendez on the credits in case any of you also post on the Opeth forum.

Dammit! Op i r**** med Roadrunner! De skulle skydes hele bundtet! Svin! So I have to spend more money on digipacks! Why didn't they release it as the same releasedate for the original release?

(But luckily, I've been working a lot lately, which means more money...! :D )

Damn damn damn. ALL cds should be released as digipaks from the beginning. The jewel case is ugly as hell. Yes, I want that new edition too...and yes, I already bought the plastic one. Sigh...

Whilst I love Opeth and can afford to get things like this, I rarely do as I feel like I'm being ripped off... That's money I could spend on an album I DON'T have yet. Ah well.

I might've bought this if I didn't already own Ghost Reveries, or if I had a surround sound player, or if Ghost Reveries was any good.
