Anyone else seen it? I saw it today and it's a clear number 1 for the year, for me. Totally, totally brilliant.

Graphic novel? I thought it was a PD James novel? Or am I just stupid?

Anyhoo, great film. Probably the best thing I have seen in a cinema in a long, long time. Great script, great acting, great direction, great music...errr...great!

And I loved that it was set in the UK. Strange to see a film of this concept set in this country.

My apologies for not explaining it a little better. As Monga says, it's a film based on a PD James novel, directed by Alfonso Cuaron.

It's set 20 years from now, in a world where no woman is fertile... the youngest person on Earth is 18. It basically takes immigration, terrorism, environmental change and pandemics, says "what if..." and puts you right in the middle of it with a hand-held camera.

I'm with Monga... best thing I've seen in a cinema for a long, long time too. Go see it and tell me what you think!

BTW, I don't want to give more than that away to anyone who hasn't seen it, so I've deliberately avoided any spoilers.

It would really spoil the film if everyone read about the bit where Clive Owen tackles Chuck Norris and wins using a mango hand grenade.

Seriously though, Clive Owen was amazing in this film. I think he should get a best actor Oscar, or at least nomination. His evolution through the whole film was as believable as it was incredible.

I think I might get the soundtrack for this also, it was neat.

I was going to go see it today, but I would have had to wait around for an hour an a half for the next session, in near 30(c) degree heat. So I decided to put it off until next week.

Saw it a couple of weeks ago. Very very good, but not the best of the year (also not quite worth the €10 cinema ticket *hates the expensive-ness of this country). I'd give that to The Departed. But Children Of Men was still great. I loved Jasper...

I saw this film.

I dream dreams like this, It was the only film when I've shouted out loud amongst other cinema goers. It really took hold of me.

It's documentary enough to feel real, the casual swearing like the actors don't realise they're in a film is great.

The bike accident is so much like a bike accident it's not funny.

Best use of cinematic violin squeals I've heard, kind of much worse than the shining for hitting 'that' frequency.

Doesn't sink in until you realise that the abandoned school isn't abandoned it's just not used anymore.

A car battery in the face is always going to hurt, especially when you're not expecting it. (non spoiling spoiler)

I know I'll want it on DVD, I just don't know how often I'll be up to watching it.

I haven't seen The Departed, as it's a re-imagining (or whatever) of one of my favourites, Infernal Affairs. I'll probably see it on DVD for a dollar one Tuesday or another.

Speaking of money... 10 Euros! Damn! I saw it yesterday for AUS$6, which is equivalent to 3.62 Euros. In a cinema with the best sound I've ever heard, too.

I liked their attempt at futuristic music. Freaked me out a little, actually. Reminded me a bit of some of that Japanese noise stuff.

Whilst I was watching it, I kept getting this Bladerunner vibe, and it was about more than the whole near-future dystopia thing. It was more about how well the director created this totally believable world and filled it with characters who were just trying to live in it.

Bladerunner is my favourite film of all time, so that says something about how much I enjoyed it. On a bit of a DVD tangent, I'll definitely buy CoM on DVD too, but still haven't got Bladerunner, as I'm waiting for this mythical Special Edition DVD for the 25th anniversary next year. Which probably won't even happen. But I'm waiting!

Okay, how have so many of you seen a movie that's not out until Christmas?

And while we're on the subject of movies, did anyone hear that Scarlett Johansson is doing an album of Tom Waits covers? Fuckin sweet if you ask me... Although I don't know how well she'll pull it off.
