Is anyone familiar with this?

It's a record label, found on http://www.magnatune.com (or for Lars: http://www.magnatude.com (I got the wrong link the first time someone mentioned it)) that provides the artists music online, and free. If you like it, you can buy an album, which costs a suggested $8, at least $5 or just as much as you are willing to pay. Artists get 50% of that.
The music is "open source" (or called open music on the website), distributed under a Creative Commons "some rights reserved" licence.

I actually like the concept. The founder's wife got screwed by "the music industry", and this guy decides that the whole route of getting music to the public could and should be a lot more efficient and friendly to both artist and listener.

I'm pretty curious if anyone here has tried this.
