My God, these guys have stepped up big time. The Tipping Point was great but it had nothing on Illadelph Halflife or anything but this is fucking mindblowing shit!!!
Anyone who has any aprehension to hip-hop whatsoever should check out The Roots. They are a full live band with drums, bass, keys, guitar, percussion, female vocals and two MCs and are the greatest band I have ever seen (and I've seen them all; SYL, NIN, Sigur Rós, Tool, Fantômas, The Mars Volta, Mogwai, Soilwork, Brian Wilson, TV on the Radio, Vai, Satch, Belle and Sebastian, Melvins, Tomahawk, etc)
To top off their devastating skill on the instruments, drummer ?uestlove (who has been drumming since he was five, by the way) is also as good a producer as Devin Townsend and has done albums for Common, D'Angelo, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Jay Z and drummed on everyone's shit.
This new one is a corker and hopefully will be the last straw necessary for them to become the biggest hip-hop group in the world.
