Hello everyone. I'm in the process of planning a trip to Norweigan land and was wondering if any of you Scandanavians can help in giving me some ideas of places to visit. Those of you who hopefully know a bit about the country. I was thinking of maybe taking a trip into the northern more frigid parts and wanted to see if its worth checking out. Also, I don't know a single bit of the language. Is it a good idea to learn the language first? I know a good deal of people up there speak English as a second language, but I don't want it to be a problem ordering my food or asking for directions hehe. If you have any advice even on the time of year to go or anything, please tell me!!

Thanks alot!

Foreign travellers are very common there, so english won't be a problem.

Don't go there in the winter (november - march), because the mountain roads are very dangerous, and it's not uncommon you'll have to just stop and wait for the road opening crew. When it snows, it snows and the roads are extremely slippery.

When you ask for distance to another town, you'll be told how long it takes to get there, not the distance ;)

If you want to come in the winter, come here in Finland ;) No mountain roads and the roads are always kept open.
