Look at this pic of Ground Zero or better on your GE, where you can zoom in. Look at the damn buildings! WTF?

Image

Did M. C. Escher design the place? Everything looks in place, but there are three or more perspectives, while the shadows are even. Can anyone explain how this works?

presumably, the whole thing is made up of a bunch of different aerial photos and they don't line up properly...

Exactly, but what strikes me is that they DO line up properly, I mean there's not one deviation seen on the streets surrounding these buildings, at least I can't find one.

EDIT: HA! Found the deviation. It's the building on the Wall St. and Water St. intersection. Jeez, I have too much time.

It's not fair! Why are the pictures of New York on Google Earth so damn good, and is my house just a blur? :(

Oh by the way, if you want to see something cool, check out the Grand Canyon through Google Earth. Make sure to adjust your camera angle!

Hahaha, yeah, have you been to Mt. Everest (must adjust the angle too)? Area 51 is also interesting.

My buddy and I have discussed this yesterday and came to the conclusion it's an "intelligence" thing. You know, basically the terrorists can't exactly organize an attack with google earth or something. I can't see any other reason. The southeastern coastal side of lower Manhattan is a mindfuck.

well obviously they dont wanna give access to certain places to everyone
at least not clear
also, you gotta understand some place are less precise because they dont have much photos taken of said area

They're a bit late with these precautions, aren't they? About 5 years?
