Just about everybody around my neck of the woods currently has some sort of mutant cold- family, friends, co-workers, Trent Reznor... it's just like a regular cold, only it WON'T GO AWAY. I'm pretty sure I got it at the Opeth/DTB show in Providence, and that was almost two weeks ago.
So who else is miserable and chock full of interesting fluids?

Post-script: Everyone go wash your hands. NOW!

Normally, if a singer is on stage and exclaims, "YOu are some sick mothers!", that would be a good thing, as this would describe the audience as a raucous and rowdy bunch, which would appease the band. However, at the Raleigh show, Devin could have exclaimed the same thing, but it would have more aptly referred to the large number of coughers, sneezers and mucus-filledmembers of the audience...myself included.

Yeah my sinuses are more or less permanently full of crap. I can breathe out of my nose at the moment but, which is a plus, but not very well. Stupid deviated septum plus colds.

Around here, birds seem to get the flu. The kind of flu that kills human beings.

Yup, a couple of days ago a duck died because of bird flu - 20 kilometers from where I live. And a couple of days ago I came down with a cold... *snuffle*

OH NOO YOU'RE GONNA DIE!!!

I'm sorry, but they're not scaring me. We live in a fear-driven society. They're scaring us with things like cancer, terrorism and now the bird flu. It's all way exaggerated.

Some journalists here hired some mathematician (for publicity, it's not that hard to calculate it for average person, I guess) to calculate possibility of bird flu death. Was something like 1:20 000 000.

BTW, all the bird flu affair makes the idiom "murder of crows" sound right at last, hur hur.

Indeed. The german term "Erregungsgesellschaft" ("society of excitation") describes it perfectly I think.

The media machine needs non-stop food supply...

Exactly. But at the same time, you hear all kinds of wild stories by attention whores about bird flu and H5N1 or whatever it's called killing half of Europes population.

I just want to say how much I admire the Germans for their ability to invent words that exactly describe some thing that needs describing. Like fahrvernugen or shadenfreud (I know, spelling sucks, my German is worse than my French!) I love that about the German language. Wish I spoke it.

And, as to the cold, it f*cked me up, too. I was all messed up for two weeks, then just snuffly for a week. Started feeling better this last week. My 3 mos. old son was actually hositallized for pneumonia. Sucks being sick.
