Ministry have made their best album since Filthpig!

Oh my God this album is incredible! Rio Grande Blood, it's due out on May the 2nd I believe and you guys are going to be blown away. It's like if Slayer made an industrial album that actually had smart lyrics

In stark contrast to the two prior albums (which I liked, but not toooo much) the production is incredibly clear and crisp, and there is a very big element of psychedelia brought back in there. Some of this is the most disturbing shit they've done since Filthpig, and there are riffs on there that kick it out just like said album. Plus, the last song on the abum could be their greatest work ever!!! It's stunning.

I am fuckin impressed, I tell you that! Al is the man!

The new Ministry features Tommy Victor (Prong) and Raven (Killing Joke, Prong) after all! So what did you expect? :)

I'll check it out, but personally I'm much more looking forward to the new Killing Joke album Hosannas From The Basements Of Hell.

Animositisomina's sound was very rough, in fact, but "Houses of the Mole" wasn't bad. It's cool album, BTW.

More disturbing than "Dark side of the spoon"? If yes, it must be sick shit, in fact :) Anyways, nice to hear that good ol' Al is still in form. This man is 300% badass.

You mentioned Slayer and return to psychadelia. This combination does not compute.

I loved the return to speed that was Houses of the Mole. I really really really didn't dig on Filth Pig or Dark Side. All the pointless droning just killed them for me.

Yeah, I listened through the album about five times today and it's definitely one of their best ones in years. Animositisomina kicked ass, but perhaps the songs were a little too alike, so it got a bit boring in the long run.

I still think Filthpig is the best.

"Hizbollah" is my favourite single track though.

As for the Slayer and psych, just dl it and see for yourself.

I have been very anxiously awaiting this release!!!!!

I have to admit that since Psalm69 none of the albums have really wowed me. I liked them, but was quick to find many flaws with all of them. Namely Animositisomina, the production was dreadful. To quote Sir Dev, it sounded like a tin can full of hornets. Houses of the Mole was great, but the production was too similar to Animos. and they both actually give me a headache if played too loud.

Although, The Mind is still one of my all time favorite albums. It is hard to compete with that one in my opinion.

This new info makes me that much more anxious to get it and give it a spin!!!!!

Thanks Greg,

I did not know about this. I agree with you about Filth pig, thrice the album of psalm 69, it only took about three or so listens to see genius.
I love that Al can make music from a washing machine, freekin industrial perfection.

It's great, but not the greatest, IMHO... Ministry is a good band at putting out very good albums with insanely great single songs.

Wow! Greg, I'm fucking pumped! You and I seem to be in the same boat of people who think Filthpig is the best of Ministry. And if you reckon that this new album tops that, then that does my head in dude. I fucking can't wait for this. Now I have to see if I can resist the temptation to DL. I would rather wait for the cd. I just have to find a way to put it out of my mind. However, I would be interested in more specific details about the songs/album if you've got the time or inclination to do a bit of a review :) Cheers for the good news!

I wouldn't say that this tops it, but I think it's the best they've done since...

The last track on the album is certainly the coolest thing I've ever heard Ministry do, but the album doesn't quite have the variety that Filthpig has. It is pretty concerned with a new Heavy Metal version of Ministry but it does so in such a brilliant manner and has the songs and the production to back it up.... You'll just have to check it out.

I imagine that most Ministry fans will really appreciate this record - it kicks ass in a major way, has a huge sound and really thunders along. It doesn't do the slow, nasty vibe Filthpig style shit but it has got the psychedelic layering, so it sorta has something for all fans in it.
