I can think of very very few bands who's albums got progressively better, and who's last album was their best. What bands would you say fit into that category?

Rotten Sound
Front Line Assembly (all their stuff is excellent, but the stuff from 1992 on is better, thus fulfilling this questionaire's purpose ;) )

For me: Opeth. I'm preparing to be flamed for this(well, actually not very, 'cause this is the Devy board and people here are very friendly and nice), but I didn't like their two first albums very much. "Ghost Reveries" are Opeth in their truest form IMO.

And of course Metallica. :P

I agree with the Opeth statement.

Thin Lizzy - first few albums were shit, middle albums were the shit, last few albums were a bit shit.

Heh, I like Opeth's stuff all around as much, if not somewhat more towards the first three albums more. They're all great though, but the more I listen to all the albums, I like the first ones more.
