What kind of robot would you make and for what reason? It could be for anything in your life that you wish you just had a robot to do for you.

I'd want a small robot.
Like a keyring.

I'm affraid real artificial intelligence really will arrive. I read somewhere that human beings have been able to simulate a brain consisting of 20,000 brain cells.

Not that it's much, a worm has about 3,000,000 brain cells, but it's a start.
Let's just hope it doesn't turn out all apocalyptic like the movies.

 that is seriously freaky and seriously asskicking!
jim henson should make an automata division :D

@biert: we use simulations like that all the time, they're called neural nets. It's not like it's a "brain" per se, it just works like it, so you're able to implement machine learning. With machine learning, you can solve problems like the human mind would, but obviously not as good as.

People don't need to worry on the advance of AI cause we're FAR FAR away from finding out how the brain works, so we can't make models on top of what we don't know. Actually, many scientists are working on AI programs to simulate the brain and actually find out how it works, the exact other way around.

yea i'm a sucker for computer neuroscience :P

It can adapt its power usage to the current local temperature?

You're right, technology is exaggerated. But as look as the geeks buy it, USB powered coffee mugs and useless shit like that will be built.

At least these overlords might have the sense to stop polluting and destroying everything they touch (except us).

Are they that bad? :P I'm guessing "scare" means "kill" with such a robot
