I've always wanted to hear a metal version of that song's main theme. Not a thrash, but more progressive metal version of it.

Didn't Sebastian Back kinda metal it up a little?

Nightwish covered the title track. Despite everyone's universal love of Tarja's voice, I found that she fell short in several places, most notably not even attempting the high note at the end of the "Sing for me!" part.
I won't even talk about the male singer. Ugh.

I thought that the movie was ok. It was beautifully filmed. Emm Rossum was a sorta passable Christine. The guy who played Raul was ok. The guy who played Phantom was pitiful. The Phantom should have a booming and perfect pitch voice... after all, he's training Christine to be a perfect singer. His demeanor should straddle the line between madness and control and later sorrow and regret. Anyway. Yeah. The movie was ok... but you should still get to see a touring version if you can, or catch it on Broadway if you're ever in NYC.

Iced Earth did a song about this on Horror Show, but it wasn't the same song. It was an original piece.

I saw the show last year in Boston at The Opera House, it was pretty bad ass, and it would make for a killer metal show if someone had the ambition to do it.

Anyone like the non-musical movie of Phantom of the Opera with Lon Chaney as the Phantom?

Now THAT is badass..
