songs that break you?

i dont mean to repeat the "sad songs" thread, i mean songs that make you weep much in the same way a little lass sobs when some foul charlatan steals her rag doll from her.

massive attack - protection

jääportit - talvenkaltainen

Oh, I am going to catch shit for this, but:

The first song that made me cry was Europe's "Carrie" when I was 15. It was because of a girl, so screw you.
The second was Skid Row's "I Remember You", again because of a girl. I was 17 then, and married her 9 years later.
The 3rd was "Cigarettes" by King's X. I cried a bit when I saw them play it in concert, because the pain was palpable on Doug's face.
Funeral gets to me, too....

I cried during "Against The Odds" by Phil Collins... because of a girl.

Otherwise, you know what, I don't think I get emotional over songs. Maybe I'm too analytical or something. I got chills one time at the Depeche Mode concert they played in the Rose Bowl and recorded for 101. During the song "Blasphemous Rumors" it started to rain and it had been a pretty decent, sunny day up until that point. In fact, it had been pretty hot during the afternoon. But, that song comes on and the clouds gathered and it rained. Freaky.

I don't cry over songs. I think I'm quite analytical (as suggested above).

However, I was listening to Infinity on my headphones once. I was standing in a bookshop, not particularly paying attention to the music, when this one line in a song just smacked me in the face and I nearly collapsed. Very weird indeed, and the sensation passed really quickly.

A few weeks ago I was listening to Zenhouse by Hellborg, Lane and Sipe. I had the lights down really low and was lying on my bed with my eyes closed. At one point in the first song this massive shiver just ran through me and I realised I was listening to a perfect snippet of music. I suggest you all have a listen to that album when you're chilling.

Fuck, some guy burned the () album by Sigur Ros fo me when I was having some girlfriend-difficulties :)

That shit still makes me just fucking collapse. It's just an entire album of intense sadness and frailty. I love it.

Oh, I thought of one. Last night I was listening to Signals by Rush and the song "Losing It." It doesn't make me cry, per se. But, it does move me. Especially in the 2nd verse, I think, when the lyrics talk about Hemingway (albeit obliquely) and then the last verse:

Some are born to move the world
To live their fantasies
But most of us just dream about
The things we'd like to be
Sadder still to watch it die
Than never to have known it
For you, the blind who once could see
The bell tolls for thee...

It kinda resonates in an extremely sad way. It chokes me up a little, I guess.

That is a pretty sad sounding song though.

For sadness, nothing really tops tears in heaven!
