Ditto...a sad loss fo football, and sad for his loved ones, but I don't have a great deal of sympathy for him.

I don't concider this a big loss for football. He was a great player back in the days (so I've heard, but as I said, before my time). But these days I don't think he could kick a ball straigh ahead.
Of course, sympathy to his friends and family but this is pretty much his own fault. And I don't think he ever regretted his lifestyle.

He had his second chance. He blew it.

Great footballer (possibly the best ever), but ruined one liver and then only got the second one because he was famous. There aren't enough of these to go around and they're not given to alcoholics for a good reason. He was also a drink driver and beat his wife up.
Still, I think the way the press has covered his demise, and the interest from the GBP has been pretty disgusting. The rubber necking has been almost as bad as when that posh woman died in a french tunnel.

i agree, those livers could have gone to people who deserved them not someone who made himself ill, got his chance but didn't change. i feel sorry for everyone affected by this but he himself was a waste of time.

I'm not a huge fan of the sport, but even I knew the name and knew that he was easily among the greatest ever. While he did leave a very questionable life outside of the sport, I feel for his loved ones who have lost someone, and I must send out an RIP myself.
