Does anyone know these guys? I saw them live on the Lowlands festival here in Holland, and they're amazing. Their music reminds me a bit of Isis'.

This is their official website, you can also download the live gig at Lowlands there.

Yes indeed, a very british Isis. I've seen them a couple of times in tiny venues, and they can be mesmerising.

If you enjoy their stuff, then have a look for 'the Fall of Math' by 65 Days of Static too

Fuck - I'm so glad there are others out there who like Oceansize - I was looking for a completely different album (side effect X) and I asked the CD store guy if they had it - no. but he said to try 'Oceansize' - normally I wouldn't pay attention to plebs in poxy CD stores, but for some reason, this guy seemed genuine and someone i should listen to, so I bought it without hearing it.

After listening to it in its entirity, I absolutely loved it. It reminds me of a cross between OK Computer and Aenima, in the way the songs have a life of their own, and just keep changing and progressing as the  y continue.

But being in OZ, i doubt i'll ever see them live, which is a big shame.

I'm so glad i listened to the guy in the shop.

The album is Effloresence.

I've seen them live, and to be honest I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with them. Live they were absolutely amazing, I means seriously stunning, but on record they really kind of piss me off sometimes. I think it's the vocals, they just don't match up to the brilliance of the music....unlike Tool, say, where you've got Maynard being an absolute legend most of the time, Mike Vennart's style just seems to be basically screamo/crooning by numbers, which pisses me off. 'Women who love...' is fucking awesome though.

I think they've got bags and bags of potential, but haven't delivered yet. They also have some eps available, one of which was released after Effloresce, but it's not as good (in my opinion).

Yep I agree with Danra, they are a really cool band but the guys vocals are not my cup of tea, still they are miles better than alot of british bands so i look forward to hearing more stuff from them, and they use the 3 guitar players in a seriously cool way and the drummer is amazing.

i remember when i saw them live the bassist actually played guitar for one song, so they had 4 guitarists and it sounded immense. they also play along to a backing track operated by a guy on a computer which adds loads of atmospherics which don't really seem to come across on the record. immense, immense, immense.

Oceansize have a new album "Everyone into Position"

- it kicks serious arse, in a similar fashion to the previous album, but it seems all facets have been improved.

Gold :P

I was about to post a thread about this beautiful band. Just got their debut album 'EIP' tis awesome. This cd makes me feel really happy, for some reason some of it reminds me a bit of Devs music at times I think its the multi layerd melodies...hmm...anyway....cool band!
