Neurosis

Neurosis are one of my favorite bands. I have each Album since "Souls At Zero" and love them all. I know that some people here love them and I think some people here who don´t know them yet might like them too. They pretty much changed their style over the years. They started as a hardcore band but with Souls at Zero they slowed everything down and got more doomy and with time they also got a bit more mellow but they still are fantastic in my opinion. So what does everbody think about this band? And what´s everbody´s favorite Album(s) by them? For me that´s too difficult to decide because I love each of the Albums by them that I have.

Call me a true believer. I like everything. From the early crust, all the way through 'till now.

I can't pick a favourite either. Whatever album I throw on becomes my favourite at that moment. I never get that 'oh I'd rather be listening to ____' feeling.

Seriously, it's impossible to pick a favourite album. They are the definition of the term progressive to me. I was listening to Souls At Zero on the train today and it still blows me away. Probably my favourite ever band 8)

Fuck yeah, Neurosis are one of the best bands in the world.

I don't like their early stuff so much, I lean towards the more recent stuff, favourites being Through Silver in Blood, A Sun that Never Sets, Times of Grace and Eye of Every Storm. Tribes of Neurot are amazing also, I recently got the limited edition live disk and am quite impressed by it.

For those who don´t have that one already. I strongly recommend the "A Sun That Never Sets" DVD. That shit is amazing! They shot videos for each song of the Album for that DVD and it´s really weird stuff.

Not my cup of tea at all, I'm afraid. I can respect what they do, though.

Well, I just finished listening to my first Neurosis album (Times Of Grace) and I can say I'll definitely be chasing some more of this up.

Ãœbercool. Nice and darkly atmospheric and gloomy. I can almost feel a touch of GY!BE about some of the tracks. Evil violin.

Listen in a dark room loud, but ahh...try and avoid spiders running up your arm during the title track... :fear: ...unlike me!

right on Dave \m/  \m/
and since you and I talked about it on the other forum...everybody who checks out Times Of Grace or has it and hasn´t done so already must listen to it simulateously with the Tribes Of Neurot Album "Grace". It was recorded to fit to Times Of Grace and is basically really weird Abient stuff that adds a lot more weirdness to the T.O.G. Album. So far I wasn´t able to listen to both CD´s simultaneously fully through because it´s a really serious headfuck. Of course you need 2 CD-players for that experience. No need for drugs when you listen to that, really.

I've got combined mp3s of the two albums.
Have a nosy online, they're not hard to find.

Funny, because I got into Neurosis with the release of TOG, I found that a really hard album to listen to, and now when I listen to it combined with the atmospherics, it seems like a more comfortable fit.

Though its been a while since I spun that without the extras.... so I'm talking out of my arse.

I'm actually listening to Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures right now.... and Neurosis did a fucking cool cover of their 'Day of the Lords'.

I have mixed feeling about them as some of their stuff does absolutly nothing for me. The record with Jarboe was the main thing to catch my eye everything else kinda came and went.

Haha, this reminds me, we were trippin one night and were very brave and decided to watch this DVD.... and you know how it randomly chooses whether it will actually let you watch the Neurosis bit or whethe rit's going to subject you to the full Tribes of Neurot first? Well, we tried like twenty times to restart it so it would let us watch the Neurosis section but it just wouldn't work!!!! It was spinning us out and we ended up having to sit through an hour of sinister Neurot stuff before watching Neurosis
