Human Equation

There's probably been a post like this already, but I have to say that to anyone who hasn't gotten Ayeron's Human Equation musical yet, it is worth buying it just for the 2 1/2 songs that Devin is on. The rest of the album is good too, but the highlights, by far, are tracks 3 and 8.

hmmmm Ayreon eh?
i have the human equation and The electric castle.
cant say i am a huge fan. i did like the songs devin did on the recent album, but hell, they didnt even include him in the vide for "loser" (although as it turned out, its a very good thing they didnt since the video was horrible)
They are good musicians but the music feels like it is 30 years out of date :)

Anything with Devin & Mikael Akerfeldt is worth hearing. I liked it as far as prog rock operas go its pretty neat. The only thing is disliked was a few of the other guests have real prog nonsense voices.

Take it for what it is "a prog opera" and you'll see it for what it is. which is a well written bunch of heavy songs.

I can't stand this record !!! I sold it for 5 euros !!!
I don't like the "studio project only" vibe ... I like Rock n roll baby !!!

Arjen Lucskywlakerchewbaccaanssen is talented for sure, but I think he plays in the zone where so many bands played before. And no luck for his fans, they will never be able to see any of his projects "live"

Well I will go back to my old savatage records now

Haha, if people find this record cheesy, they should listen to the other work of Arjen :D
It's even worse. At least the lyrics from Human Equation are about a down-to-earth subject, instead of aliens landing on planet earth, or people trying to find a non-existing castle made of mirrors :D

Oh, and Geoff, Arjen DOES tour with some of his material, but then it's called Star One. He did a tour of his older Ayreon work a few years ago, and due to the recent succes of the Human Equation and the remastering of his older records, I'm pretty sure he will be doing a new tour within the next few years. I'm guessing he won't bring Devin Townsend unfortunately :(

borrowed it, ripped the songs Dev was on, gave it back.
Saw the video for "Loser" and deleted the mp3's

that band stands for everything that I DON'T like in metal

I clicked "God's penis" btw for some random hilarious reason :D

For everything you don't like in metal?
I don't even see this record as a metal record. It's just a guy who is crazy about progressive music from the 60s, 70s and 80s. If you are going compare this record to your typical metalrecord, than you're not really getting the point.

I like it very much, but after having listened to it a lot it bores me sometimes.
It's a good album, though, IMO.

BTW, is there a "Loser" video? I didn't know it... Now I need to find that! :?

That's too bad, I haven't seen it but the song was great.

I heard "The flight of the mitgator part 2" and actually broke out laughing during the guitar/keyboard intro that was just like "WOW".
