Since there are ton's of Pantera fans on board here....what's your favoutite Pantera album ? I would have to say "Vulgar Display of Power" is mine. It is just brutally consistent. It's hard to choose what would come second for me "Cowboys From Hell" or "Far Beyong Driven". Pantera kicked some serious ass in their day !!!!! RIP Dimebag.....

I'd have to say Cowboys from Hell... But I think mainly because that was the first Pantera album I owned, so I listened to that one most... But it's pretty close to Vulgar Display of Power...

Still can't believe what happened... pretty fucked up...
(Been to a Fear Factory concert last wednesday, and they had RIP DMG on their cabinets, and took a moment to remember him...)

I would also say Cowboys From Hell since that was my first Pantera Cd aswell, once i heard the title track "Cowboys From Hell" i got hooked straight on to them. About a month later i bought the boxset cd collection which had there first 3 release CFH, Vulgar and Far Beyond Driven.

On the subject of Pantera Cd's does anyone have the Cd before Cowboys From Hell, "Power Metal" it was released on tape and never went to CD, well thats what i was told. I listed to it and it soundslike hair metal (Poison,Warrent) that sort of shit. I think you can still download it off certian websites, which is were my mate got it from. I fyou have it or heard it tell us what you think of it.

Very very difficult.

My favourites are Far Beyond Driven, Vulgar Display Of Power and The Great Southern Trendkill. For me it's very hard to make a choice.

In the end I voted for VDOP, because it has an amazing number of hits.

From what I gathered, Pantera released four albums before changing their style:

1983 - Metal Magic
1984 - Projects In the Jungle
1985 - I Am the Night
1988 - Power Metal

Yeah, I did'nt include those albums in the poll cuz those albums were the hairmetal/independent albums. It's not the Pantera albums we learned to love today......that's forsure. I just thought a poll on their "signed record label" metal albums would be most appropriate. 8)

Freakin hard...

I chose VDOP just because it is more consistent than their other albums, and has some of their best heavy, fast, and slower songs (I mean Hollow AND This Love? cmon). Far Beyond Driven is such a close second because it has some of my personal favorite Pantera songs, I'm Broken and 5 Minutes Alone to name a couple, but FBD lacks consistency, as some songs are way too drawn out and boring.

They're all such great albums though...

Far Beyond Driven has some great guitar playing on it.

Even though i've never been a big fan, Cowboys From Hell stuck with me for awhile, although i've only heard 3 of the 5 albums listed. :x

I think Trendkill has some of Dimes best playing on it. Outros to Floods and Trendkill, the solo in Floods and 10's etc. It's also a very dark album.

Too hard to choose, i love em all for different reasons.

I like Far Beyond Driven the most, but I really don`t know why...they are all such great albums.

Hummm

Vulgar display of power is my favourite, even if "emotionally" I think they reached the top with TGSTK ...
