After reading the Dev vs. SYL thread, for my own curiosity, I would just like to find out where all you folks are coming from. And to clarify, "I listen to everything" is not an acceptable answer because it is simply not possible. There has to be a common denominator that you can identify with the most. If you disagree, sort your CD/MP3 collection by genre and see what you have the most of.

I chose 'metalhead', but just because I listen mostly to metal doesnt mean I am one. Right? I mean, a 'metalhead' suggests somebody with some kind of code, that wouldnt be caught listening to half the stuff in my music collection.

I think you're OK BM! If someone listens only to metal, and adheres to a code, they have serious problems. I am a metalhead but in my 1200 CD collection, only about 400 would be metal. Everything else is a smattering of all different genres. But at the end of the day, nothing gets my blood flowing like a good old dose of HATE!

Ok, I have to agree with you there, as I am the same.

So if other metalheads found out that I listen to soft fluffy stuff like Jeff Buckley and that I think the Powerpuff Girls is awesome, I wouldnt lose my right to be a metalhead? Good.

Well not with the Jeff Buckley but the Powerpuff Girls thing may knock you down a peg or 2

Have you heard the ultimate edition of Grace? Is it worth getting?

Suppose I'm a metalhead then... as that is what I listen to most. But I am pretty casual looking and all, I always thought metalhead was a name for longhaired people banging their heads off at gigs.

Also I'm getting quite bored with the whole metal genre but I can't really find/get into other stuff either.

I saw it in HMV the other week, and it looks like a pretty good package...but I already have the original! I would buy it if I had money to spare to buy CDs I already have. Dammit.

I'd say rocker. I as a metalhead, but my music collection says otherwise :)

I find I enjoy bands like Ween, Queens of the Stonage, Reverand Horton Heat, Jonny Cash, System of a Down..... when I used to listen to alot of deathmetal. I find it silly now.

I would say rocker with a side of prog

I love old genesis and Peter Gabriel stuff, and bands like Queensryche and Dream Theater keep these influences alive so ...

I kind of find that I am tiring of metal but I can't find anything else that can hold my interest. After hearing Doc from Vader play and hearing all the European guitarists wanking all over the place, most music just bores the hell out of me now.
I used to be a rocker when rock was kickass and not polluted/diluted by all of the pansy ass brits. If I ever hear another person refer to the Hives or the Strokes as rock, I'll f'n lose it. Rock is an attitude but I can't take it seriously coming from a bunch of ridiculous looking twig thin cunts. And what does North America have? The White Stripes? Fuck those nancies! Nickelback? That deserves a paddling!
I miss rock

In reference to what I said above, I have nothing else to buy. Now I just go backwards and fill out my 70's collection and get the odd reissue and or remaster. I really liked what they did to the Sin-e package so I think I will pick up the Grace album. I'll let you know.
On a side note, rumor has it that Jeff Buckley did a cover of Chris Cornell's Flutter Girl. Have you ever heard it or can you verify the rumor. Apparently they were friends or at least respectful of each other.

**interesting... I typed in a band name above where it says Ultimate Wankers and that is what popped up. I'll give you a hint. It rhymes with Nickel Whack

Might I add this is a strange poll - Since when did we try to classify ourselves under labels? What are we when we can appreciate more than one type of music - In the end, music is music, it creates various emotions, conveys different concepts, MUSIC IS MUSIC!! And that 'snobby elitist' option - if you listen to classical then is this what you are? Does no one realise that alot of metal is directly influenced by classical?
