I've loved this band for about 3 years...But their vocalist has added so much to the mix, sound etc....You guys know him....Ex Judas Priest Screamer "Ripper Owens".....
They have just toured the US twice this year, 2 leg tour. Places such as vancouver, Ohio, House Of Blues and many many more....I'm looked forward to the European tour later in the year....Every metal fan shuld own their new cd with their new vocalist Tim Ripper Owens.....superb stuff....

I like their stuff up till burnt offerings.
The rest isn't even worth my trashcan if you ask me. Nowadays they blow.

I started listening to them w/ "The Dark Saga" and I really loved that album at the time, but now... kinda cheesy for my taste. That album will always be a part of me though.

I've never heard anything by them, but I've heard of them. That's got to at least count for something.

Bad name, but I quite like some of the covers. They have a character that looks like Mumm-Ra.
"Ancient Powers Of Evil, transform this decaying form into that of Mumm-Ra The Ever Living!!"

I am a fan of Iced Earth, seriously, but I think Barlow could sing circles around Ripper.
Don't get me wrong, Ripper is talented, but Barlow is better,

Great album. I was always a little afraid of the cover. The eyes of the people running away from the robot are freaky.
There best albums were Night At The Opera, Day At The Races and Queen II.
If I remember correctly Rob Halford once remarked in the press that Freddie shouldn't be wearing leather (late 70s I think) unless he proved he was metal enough. He challenged him to a race on motorbikes or something. Mercury declined, saying he would only do it if Halford danced with the National Ballet, as he had done. Halford made some comments about not being gay. How surprised we were when he came out.
Not.

Heh, first time I've heard that. Their album covers have pretty amazing artwork and you're the first person I've ever heard that doesn't like them. I think they are (were) an amazing band, but I can't stand Owens. Matt Barlow in my opinion was only shadowed by Devin in overall energy and singing capabilities. Overall they're without a doubt one of my favorite bands.

I am a big fan of Iced Earth, I saw them live this year in Philadelphia with Evergrey and Children of Bodom (also a couple of my favorite bands). I don't really see how people can say that Barlow was a better vocalist than Ripper in terms of the actual voice.. Ripper is such a better singer, however Barlow just seemed to fit better with the music of the old, and brought so much energy with him to the band. Still, I greatly enjoyed Ripper's performance live.. he sang both the old and new stuff great. I went in there not knowing what to expect from Ripper, but I came out way more than satisfied
The style of the new album, The Glorious Burden, fits Ripper's vocal style very well, and I don't believe that Barlow could have performed as well on the new album. I love the new CD, and the Gettysburg trilogy is up there just as high as their "Something Wicked" trilogy, if not surpassing it. I expect more great things to come from this band in the future
