I remember some time ago reading a comment from Mr Akerfeldt that this album was heavily influenced by Scott Walker's 'The Drift'. Can anyone verify that?

If you haven't heard that album, you should. As scary as somebody else's shit in your pants.

Yes, it is. There's only one part that I can actually put down as a direct copy from The Drift, I think it's a bit in The Lotus Eaters. Just the guitar sound. There's another one, I think it's Burden, that has a vocal line or two that sounds a LOT like Walker's style back on Scott 4. I really like it.

There's also a few bits with dissonance that reminds me of The Drift.

Hey Intoc, thanks for this...I was hoping for some 'dissonance' in common with The Drift. In a related note since hear The Drift I think I can hear a bit of that sound in the Damnation album also.

Scary stuff.
