you said it. he's been pretty much all over the musical spectrum as far as rock goes. i like Probot, Foo Fighters, Tenacious D and the Queens but I dislike Nirvana and NIN. those are just the better known projects though. you can't really write a man off for a few of the project choices he's made. though not the most technically able drummer in the world, he's a great creative and productive mind.

u all keep mentioning Nirvana, QOTSA, Probot ... but you are all forgeting TENACIOUS D!!!!! He played drums on their album. Has any1 heard Tenacious D!!!!! Cmon! Lots of funny Jack Black songs, especially 'F*ck her gently' haha

I couldn't stand Nirvana, love The Foo Fighters, haven't heard QOTSA (yet), except for the one song I caught on VH1 awhile ago. I dunno, I like him, but I can't choose between overrated or underrated. I really don't know. I know I like him better than I did Kurt Cobain. I never understood the hoopla surrounding him. Ugh.

Overrated. Still, he's a great guy, and a fantastic drummer.

he's neither, seeing as there's an equal amount of lovers and haters..
he's no dave whekl on the drums, but he's got a great ear. Musicians shouldnt be technicians, they need to have heart too (not to sound too corny) and i think dave has proven he has a lot of that

Overrated. I have nothing against him though. Probot was a cool idea.
